Taylor Pendrith made 10 birdies and no bogeys in the first round of the Shriners Children's Open. His score of 61 tied his career-low on the PGA Tour, as he shot a similar score in the second round of the 2021 Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
Following his first-round performance at the Shriners Children's Open, Taylor Pendrith had this to say (via PGA Tour News Service):
"I didn’t really expect a 10 under, I would say. I thought I would be a little bit more rusty than that. Obviously thrilled, just got to keep getting back into the rhythm of things and the next few days."
During the round, Joel Dahmen was penalized four strokes for having more than 14 clubs in his bag.
