Michael Kim came to TPC Summerlin after four missed cuts in the last five finishes and a withdrawal from the Wyndham Championship. However, he didn't carry the burden of his last five finishes at the tournament and tied for fifth.
Kim carded 66 and 70 in the first two rounds to make the cut. He followed it with a 68 in the third round and the lowest score of 9-under 62 in the field in the final round. He jumped from T28 to T5 following his final round.
This is his second top-10 finish this year after a T6 finish at the American Express tournament. He received 100 FedEx Cup Fall points and jumped from 129th to 112th in the FedExCup Fall standings. The top 125 players will maintain their PGA Tour card.
#2 Matti Schmid
In 26 starts on the PGA Tour, Matti Schmid has missed 12 cuts. However, he came to the Shriners' Children Open in form after a fifth finish at the Black Desert Championship.
Schmid carded 64, 65, 70 and 66 in the four rounds of the tournament. The German player tied for third with Rico Hoey. He received 162.5 FedEx Cup Fall points and jumped from 105th to 84th. His PGA Tour card for next year looks secure with four tournaments to go in the Fall schedule.
#3 Rico Hoey
Rico Hoey also tied for third at the tournament, scoring 64, 66, 69 and 66 in the four rounds. This was his second top-5 finish in the 2024 season.
He jumped 19 spots from 102nd to 83rd in the Fall standings. Rico Hoey will be now eying an exemption from two signature events after the Sentry in 2025 season and will look to finish among the top 10 in the Fall standings.
#4 Doug Ghim
Doug Ghim played consistently across all rounds at the 2024 Shriners Children's Open with rounds of 64, 70, 64 and 65. This was his first runner-up finish at the PGA Tour in 141 starts after he joined it in 2020.
The 28-year-old received 300 FedExCup Fall points and jumped from 93rd to 70th in the standings. He received $763,000 for his performance at the tournament.
#5 K.H. Lee
K.H. Lee tied for fifth at the tournament with Michael Kim and Davis Thompson. This is his second top-5 finish this year. He jumped nine spots in the Fall standings from 100th to 91st after receiving 100 FedEx Cup Fall points.
