The Shriners Children's Open 2024 will take place from Thursday, October 10, to Sunday, October 13, at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the fourth event of the FedEx Cup Fall season.
A total of 132 players will compete at TPC Summerlin for a $7 million purse, with the winner taking home a $1.35 million share and 500 FedEx Fall points. He will also secure a card for the next two years as a PGA Tour winner.
Although the event will feature some top-ranked players, many big names will be absent from the action. Here's a look at five notable players not competing at the Shriners Children's Open 2024.
5 players missing from the Shriners Children's Open 2024
1) Scottie Scheffler
Scottie Scheffler is set to skip the 2024 Shriners Children's Open. He has only played in the Presidents Cup since winning the FedEx Cup. Scheffler had an incredible season, winning seven titles in addition to capturing the Olympic gold medal.
2) Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy is another big name absent from the event at TPC Summerlin. Since the conclusion of the FedEx Cup, he has been active on the DP World Tour and will next compete in the playoffs in Dubai.
3) Xander Schauffele
World No. 2 Xander Schauffele will continue his break from the PGA Tour and will be absent from this week's event. He won two major championships this season and finished T4 in the FedEx Cup. Schauffele was also the joint-highest point scorer for Team USA in the Presidents Cup.
5) Viktor Hovland
Viktor Hovland is another big name who will not be playing in the 2024 Shriners Children's Open. Unlike last year, he had an underwhelming season this year. He went winless and made just two top-10 finishes, both being runner-up finishes.
For the uninitiated, the Norwegian star won three titles last year, including the FedEx Cup.
5) Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay is a former champion and three-time runner-up at TPC Summerlin. However, he is skipping the tournament for the second year in a row.
Although Cantlay remained winless for another season, he ended the year on a high note, becoming the joint-highest scorer for Team USA at the Presidents Cup.
