Two-time defending champion Tom Kim is returning this week to complete a three-peat at the Shriners Children's Open. The 22-year-old golfer is set to tee off on Thursday, October 17 at the TPC Summerlin, Las Vegas. He will be making his first (non-Presidents Cup) start on the PGA Tour since his wipeout at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

World No. 25 Kim is the highest-rated player on the 2024 Shriners Children's Open field. Unsurprisingly, the South Korean is also the favorite to win. The three-time PGA Tour winner comes into the weekend with +1200 odds, according to SportsLine and CBS Sports.

He is followed by the likes of Taylor Pendrith (+2200), Davis Thompson (+2500) and Tom Hoge (+2800) on the table.

Notably, Kim has had a mixed season so far in 2024. The young golfer started the year on a low with a T45 finish at The Sentry in January. He followed it up with a missed cut at The American Express. He had an underwhelming run with just two top-20 finishes until a T4 at the RBC Canadian Open in May.

The high point of Kim’s year came in June when he finished runner-up finish at the Travelers Championship. He lost in a playoff to Scottie Scheffler after carding an impressive 22-under 258. He earned $2.16 million for the outing, his biggest paycheck of the season. However, his struggles continued after the event, missing cuts at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and The Open Championship.

Kim, who finished eighth representing South Korea in the Men’s Olympics Golf competition in France, capped his season off with a T50 FedEx St. Jude Championship. He missed a place on the BMW Championship field by one spot after finishing 51st in the FedExCup standings.

With Kim having taken a break after crashing out of the playoffs, it’ll be interesting to see how he performs in Las Vegas this weekend.
