Mark Hubbard is currently competing at the 2025 American Express tournament. He recently opened up about his near ones losing their homes in the LA wildfires.

The PGA Tour star shared that he was moving houses at the moment and while the news should be "exciting", it felt wrong to have that thought in the wake of the horrific disaster. Via a post by golf writer Paul Hodowanic on X, Hubbard said:

"It's been super weird. I am actually moving right now to a new house and that should be exciting and with everything going on, it feels weird and almost bad being excited for that. Cause there's just been so much loss and heartbreak with everyone and with people close to me."

Hubbard added how the tragedy has really put things in "perspective".

"So, it's been tough but like anything (it) puts stuff in perspective. It definitely makes it easier to realize that this is just a dumb game and none of this really matters at all."

The 35-year-old is currently placed 6th with a score of 16-under in the ongoing Round 3 of the 2025 American Express.

It's been more than a week that Los Angeles has been battling the most catastrophic bout of wildfires yet. The fires have burnt down houses leaving numerous people displaced. Thankfully, according to reports, firefighters have made significant progress in containing the fires.

PGA Tour golfer Mark Hubbard's family members also lost their homes to the wildfires. He admitted it has been a "rough" time. When asked if playing at the 2025 American Express was an "escape" from the tragedy, he answered (via the same post):

"Yeah, I think it's a nice escape to be out there and not thinking about other stuff. It feels like a little oasis out there right now."

He also confessed to a small silver lining he could find during this difficult time.

"And also I mean selfishly, it's been horrible for them but I am getting to see a ton of them more I would normally, so it's just been great to see them and to try and be there for them."

The LA wildfires have forced sports leagues to either postpone or move their events. After NFL, NBA and NHL, the PGA Tour was the latest to announce that they were moving the upcoming Tiger Woods hosted Genesis Invitational from the Riviera Country Club. The alternate venue has not been confirmed yet.
