Keith Mitchell and Christo Lamprecht are in the field for the 2024 Shriners Children's Open at TPC Summerlin in Nevada. The Shriners Children's Open has been on the PGA Tour for the last 41 years, and the field has seen winners over the years.
During the practice rounds, the PGA Tour social media team asked the golfers to say something about fellow golfers. Lamprecht talked about Mitchell and stated:
"Keith is probably the smartest Georgia grad I've ever seen."
The PGA Tour posted the video on their Instagram account, to which Mitchell reacted and said that Lamprecht's comments are false. They posted the screenshot of his response on X, where the 32-year-old golfer said he won one academic award while at UGA, which was an Anchor award, the lowest GPA on the team for a semester.
"Disgraceful comments by @christolamprecht224 about the finest Univeristy in the land. I did win 1 academic award while at UGA. It was the Anchor Award, the lowest GPA on the team for a semester... a stellar 2.1," Mitchell said.
"Thus confirming christo's comments as slander in an effort to hold the only metric which Georgia Tech grads believe they have the advantage over UGA: intellect. Now, knowing that Christo's comments are false and incorrect, their argument based upon intellect shall be in question," he added.
