“I want to win USGA championships"- Charlie Woods following his qualification at the US Junior Amateur

Charlie Woods is excited to compete in the 2024 US Junior Amateur, scheduled to be played from July 22 to 27. The tournament will take place at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan, featuring a 264-player field.

Having secured a spot in the tournament, Charlie Woods expressed his excitement and desire to win a USGA Championship. He is hopeful not only to win the US Junior Amateur but also the US Open one day.

Speaking about his qualification for the USGA Championship, Woods said (via Golf Digest):

“The USGA means a lot to me. I want to win USGA championships and hopefully one day the U.S. Open.”

He teed off on the tenth hole in the qualification round and shot two bogeys, one double bogey, along with five birdies to score 71. Following his victory, he also opened up about his performance and said (via Golf Digest):

“I didn’t play great my first two holes, but I played really good for the last 16. I just told myself not to make any more bogeys or doubles and I took advantage of some nice birdie looks when I had them. Putting was my biggest strength today. I made a lot of putts when I needed to.”

It is important to note that Charlie Woods' father, Tiger Woods, holds an impressive record at the US Junior Amateur Championship, having won the tournament three times in his career (1991, 1992, and 1993).
