Sei Young Kim produced a historic performance to take the lead in the Buick LPGA Shanghai. Her round included one eagle, nine birdies and one bogey for a 10-under 62, a course record for Qizhong Garden Golf Club and an 18-hole event record.

The Korean could not have gotten off to a better start at the Buick LPGA Shanghai, birdieing her first five holes in a row. She finished the first nine holes at 8 under and then parred the next five. She then bogeyed the 6th (15th of the round for her) and closed with consecutive birdies on the last three holes.

Kim is seeking her 13th LPGA Tour victory, her first since 2020. The veteran won two events during that season, including the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, the only Major title of her career to date.

Celine Boutier continued the momentum from her big win at the Aramco Team Series Shenzhen a week ago and started the 2024 Buick LPGA Shanghai with a bogey-free round of eight birdies (8 under).
