Nicholas Dunlap was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on the 23rd December 2003. Dunlap picked the game at an early age. He used to play at his local Greystone Golf and Country Club, with Brain Speakman as his main trainer. Brain says that he has personally admired the high level of his physical training and athleticism since his childhood.
As a twelve-year-old boy, Dunlap was a terrific player, and once fired a round of 59 at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama during a junior competition and he won by 13 strokes.

Dunlap is credited with a history-making accomplishment as he became an amateur 33 years in order to win a PGA Tour championship.
