Patrick Cantlay is one of the most well-known American golfers and No. 8 as per OWGR as of July 2024. Born in Long Beach, California, the 32-year-old golfer has been playing on the PGA Tour. He started his journey as an amateur at Servite High School and later secured the 1st rank in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a record of 55 weeks. He was also inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2022.

Turning professional in 2012, Cantlay won his first championship in 2013 at the Colombia Championship on the Web.com Tour. Apart from this, he has earned eight titles on the PGA tour, including his most notable 2021 FedEx Cup championship. His most recent win was at the 2022 BMW Championship, where he defeated Scott Stallings for a score of 270, under 14 by a single stroke.

Who is Patrick Cantlay’s caddie?

Patrick Cantlay's caddie is Joe LaCava as of July 2024.

LaCava caddied for Tiger Woods from 2011 until their split in the middle of 2023. Furthermore, when Woods won the 2019 Masters, the latest of his 15 major championships, LaCava was his looper.

LaCava, a legend in the caddying world, rose to prominence in the 1990s and early 2000s while serving as Fred Couples' caddie. He actually worked for the 1992 Masters Champion for 20 years, during which time he assisted Couples in winning 12 events. Couples told LaCava to go work for a younger player, and the two parted ways.

Cantlay had previously spent the whole of his professional career working together with Matt Minister, with whom he played college golf at Ohio State University. Having won the 2019 Memorial Tournament and the Ryder Cup, Cantlay and Minister, whose handicap is 2, make a strong team.

LaCava has been a full-time member of the Cantlay team since May 2023, and the two have already achieved several top-10 finishes. The American lost a playoff match against Lucas Glover at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August, and he tied for ninth place at the PGA Championship. As a sign of respect, prior to signing a contract with Cantlay, LaCava sought Woods' consent. Further, he finished tied for third place at the 2024 U.S. Open.
