American professional golfer Patrick Cantlay was born on March 17, 1992. He enjoyed a thriving amateur career and held the top spot for 55 weeks in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He was also inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022. In addition to the 2021 FedEx Cup, he has nine professional wins.

Cantlay decided to forgo his final two years of college in June 2012 to pursue a professional career. He competed for the United States in the 2021 Ryder Cup and played in four matches, winning three and tying one. However, after his win at the 2022 BMW Championship, he had a few remarkable finishes but no wins. As of June 2024, he is ranked world No. 9 by the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and most recently, he finished tied for 53rd place at the 2024 PGA Championship.

In November 2017, Cantlay won his first PGA Tour win at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open with a score of −9 (275). He secured the victory in a playoff against Alex Cejka and Kim Meen-whee.

In June 2019, Cantlay emerged victorious in the Memorial Tournament, finishing with a score of −19 (269). He won the tournament by a margin of two strokes, with Australia's Adam Scott as the runner-up. He also claimed his second victory in the Memorial Tournament on June 6, 2021, finishing with a score of −13 (275), defeating Collin Morikawa in the playoffs.

In October 2020, Cantlay won the Zozo Championship, recording a score of −23 (265). He secured the victory by one stroke, with Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas as the runners-up.

In August 2021, Cantlay won the BMW Championship with an impressive score of -27 (261), defeating Bryson DeChambeau in a playoff; three months later, he won the Tour Championship, defeating Jon Rahm by a single shot and capturing the 2021 FedEx Cup.

In April 2022, Cantlay, along with Xander Schauffele from the United States, won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. They finished with a score of −29 (259), winning by a margin of two strokes. Sam Burns and Billy Horschel were the runners-up. Three months later, in August, he successfully defended his BMW Championship over Scott Stallings.
