The Vidanta Vallarta course hosts the Mexican Open at Vidanta, also called the Abierto Mexicano de Golf, a professional golf event. In 1944, 79 years ago, it was played for the first time at the Club de Golf Chapultepec. Over the decades, the event has been recognized by different tours, like the Nationwide Tour (Korn Ferry Tour) and the PGA Tour Latinoamérica. However, in 2022, the PGA Tour officially recognized the tournament.
Who won the Mexico Open 2025?
Brian Campbell won his first career PGA Tour title at the 2025 Mexico Open at VidantaWorld. Out of the $7 million purse, he was given the winner's share of $1.26 million. At 20-under 264, Potgieter and Campbell were tied at the end of regulation. Both players tied in par on the first playoff hole, the par-5 18th, after failing to get up-and-down for birdie just off the green.
After a terrible tee shot, he somehow bounced in the trees to win with a birdie 4 on the second playoff hole in sudden death against Aldrich Potgieter. He got the ball to wedge range, landed back in bounds, and won with a 4-foot birdie. For the second playoff hole, they went back to the green. A shot out of the playoffs, Isaiah Salinda finished solo in third place.
Who won the Mexico Open 2024?
After shooting an even-par 71 on Sunday, Californian rookie Jake Knapp won the 2024 Mexico Open at Vidanta in Vallarta, Mexico. It was his maiden PGA Tour victory at 19 under in just nine starts. Knapp received the winner's share of $1.45 million out of the $8.1 million purse.
