Justin Thomas is a professional American golfer who won the 2022 PGA Championship. Born on April 29, 1993, in Louisville, Kentucky, Thomas began his golfing journey at a young age under the guidance of his father. He attended North Oldham Middle School and later graduated from St. Xavier High School in Louisville in 2011. Thomas continued his education at the University of Alabama before turning professional.

He turned professional in 2013 and won his first PGA Tour win at the 2015 CIMB Classic, defeating Adam Scott by a single stroke with a score of 262, under 26. He defended his title the next season as well.

Thomas' 2017 season was notable, as he won five PGA Tour events, including the FedEx Cup. In 2017 and 2022, he won two PGA Championships; the former was noteworthy because he overcame a record-setting seven-shot deficit. He rose to the top spot in May 2018 and kept it for five weeks.

In September 2023, Thomas competed in the Ryder Cup for the United States team. Following his victory against Sepp Straka in the Sunday singles match, Thomas finished 1-2-1.

In November 2023, Thomas took part in the inaugural Netflix Cup, the platform's first live sporting event. After eight holes of scramble play, Thomas and Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz Jr. won as a team.

As of April 2024, he has played in seven events, making the cut in five, with his best finish at the American Express with a score of 261, under 2, tying for third place.

Who is Justin Thomas's caddie?

Justin Thomas's caddie is Jim "Bones" Mackay as of April 2024.

Thomas and his previous caddie, Jimmy Johnson, split in October 2021 after working together since 2015. Mackay is a very experienced caddie who previously worked with Phil Mickelson for 25 years, during which time they won five Majors and 41 PGA Tour titles together. Mackay was in Thomas's bag when he won the 2022 PGA Championship.

Even when he ceased working with Mickelson, Mackay continued caddying. He accepted Thomas' invitation to team up with him, and in 2018, when they competed in the WGC-Fedex St. Jude Invitational, his employer won big and returned to the top of the world rankings. Therefore, Mackay intervened when Jimmy Johnson and Thomas decided to split after six years of association.

Johnson and Thomas had a successful winning streak and won the 2017 PGA championship together; thus, Thomas insisted that he didn't fire Johnson and that Johnson had just told him after the Ryder Cup that he was going to pursue other options. Johnson collaborated with players like Nick Price, Charles Howell III, and Adam Scott in addition to Thomas after Steve Stricker cut back on his playing schedule.

Mackay, who was born in Surrey, went to Florida when he was seven years old. He was a talented player himself, but he decided to focus on caddying. Prior to working for Mickelson in 1992, he caddied for Scott Simpson and Larry Mize. When Fred Couples first called him "Bones" in 1990, it stayed with him, and he has gone by that name ever since.
