Joe Philbin on WR Mike Wallace upset over not getting the ball: 'It’s week one of a long season'

Miami Dolphins v Houston Texans

Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin had about one minute to enjoy a win on Sunday, and then WR Mike Wallace gave him something to work on the next week. Wallace was upset over the lack of targets coming his way and when reporters asked him about it he replied ‘ask the coach.’

Well, Philbin put his best damage control on the subject explaining, we throw to the open man.

“It took a little while for us to get going and that’s a work in progress,” Philbin said, via Josh Alper of Profootballtalk.com.

“As you know, in football, I think things can have a tendency to change in terms of who’s getting the ball. We want our players to want to make a difference and want to have an impact in the outcome of a ball game; they work hard and make a lot of sacrifices. But we want to do that within the team framework and we’re going to get that chemistry down. It’s week one of a long season.”
