Mike Tomlin says RB Isaac Redman will keep starting job despite dreadful performance

The reward for penance is redemption, and Pittsburgh Steelers RB Isaac Redman has a whole lot of redeeming to do.

Coach Mike Tomlin said Redman would get a chance to show he’s a better back than 9 yards and 2 fumbles in Pittsburgh’s 16-9 season-opening loss to the Tennessee Titans.

“Obviously he played a bad game,” Tomlin said, via Scott Brown of ESPN.

“He’ll be given an opportunity to redeem himself.”

Tomlin also added that re-signed RB Jonathan Dwyer’s role hadn’t been defined, but it’s hard to imagine he will have much time to sit. He had been cut before the start of the regular season because the coaching staff felt he wasn’t a hard enough worker.

“That depends on his dependability,” Tomlin said. “We’ll play it by ear and see how he looks on the practice field and in the classroom.”
