The Big Lead’s Jason McIntyre released his latest NFL mock draft, including some interesting information about his projected selection for Gang Green.
With the 18th overall selection, the Jets select…
Marqise Lee, WR, USC
To be clear, I’m not a fan of this. But the chatter goes like this: Jets WR Vidal Hazelton played at USC. He’s been raving about Lee. OC Marty Mornhinweg sees Lee as a stretch-the-field DeSean Jackson, like in his Philly days. Idzik sees Lee as a value pick – had he been in the draft last year, he might have been a Top 5 pick based on an incredible sophomore year (116 catches, 1,721 yards and 14 TDs).

Now, how much say a camp body like Hazelton has on the team (and with the offensive coordinator) can be easily debated, but it is an interesting idea.
We’ve heard that Marty Mornhinweg does want a larger say for the offence, in 2014, including personnel decisions, so it’s surely not out of the realm of possibilities.
Marqise Lee is not one of my top wide receiver options in this year’s class, as inconsistency is not something the Jets need at the wide receiver position. His speed is intriguing, but Lee had a problem holding onto passes in 2013 with the USC Trojans.
