And with that, the Caribbean Premier League 2024 comes to an end. This has been a wonderful tournament for the old and young alike who have show cased their skills. Faf du Plessis (captain, St Lucia Kings): Guys like Sammy have waited for 10-12 years to taste this moment. I have always wanted to deliver a trophy for this franchise. It is a difficult place to play the finals and in the last two games, we beat them. I would have liked this a little bit easier but it was a bit of a low-scoring thriller. It was a good total, I felt that we could back up and chasing 138 we had positive discussions in the dressing room. In a way, we were there and there about but they made a comeback with the ball in hand. We have been saying throughout the tournament that one of the batters will have an opportunity. The way Chase and Jones chased it down was incredible. In a chase, everyone wants to go bang and we lost wickets. We thought the game was gone and the chat was to not to leave the game late. The message sent to Jones was to go after the bowling and then he went about business as usual. If you look at the team, we have played really well and different guys at different stages have raised their hands. The emotion in St. Lucia was on a high after the Olympic Gold and we are really happy to give them something more to cheer

Imran Tahir (captain, Guyana Amazon Warriors): We didn't start well and lost wickets at regular intervals. The total was not on par with dew coming later in the game. We played well throughout and congratulations to St. Lucia. I would have bowled first as well, we could have chased down a total with the spinners we had. Things happen, Moeen has been the guy for us and has often delivered. Sheppy is dangerous in the endovers and that is why we kept him for the latter stages. The batters above him played one too many dot balls. Things were going very well and one over could take the game away from us. The way we were putting pressure I said to them that one more dismissal could do it for us. Unfortunately, we fell short at the final hurdle but the guys have played really well. Congratulations to Dwayne Bravo on a great career and wishing him all the best for the future

Noor Ahmad wins the Player of the Tournament award for picking up 22 wickets across 12 games. Here is what he has to say: It is quite a special day for us and St Lucia. Everyone tried to give their best and I bowled according to the conditions as well. We played three games before this one and had good planning. We went through the plans and delivered on it. From the first day we had belief that we will be the champions of this edition of the CPL

Nicholas Pooran of Trinbago Knight Riders is the highest run-getter of the tournament and wins an award for the same

Noor Ahmad of Saint Lucia Kings is the highest wicket-taker of the tournament and won an award for the same

Quinton de Kock of Barbados Royals wins the award for the highest Individual Score of the Tournament

Kevin Sinclair of Guyana Amazon Warriors wins the Celebration of the Tournament award for his somersaults

Jewel Andrew of Antigua and Barbuda Falcons wins the Emerging Player of the Tournament. He played 7 games and scored 128 runs with a half century to his name

Shaq Parris of Trinbago Knight Riders wins the award for hitting the longest maximum

Roston Chase (Player of the Match for 39* and 1/13 in 2 overs): It is a great feeling, have been to two finals and lost. Today I told myself this can't happen again and god gave me the strength to do well. The captain thought it was the best matchup and I delivered. At that stage, the game was still close but Guyana bowled a couple of tight overs. The run rate got to 13 and I told Aaron that we need to go hard. Moeen Ali came on and I took him. Later I told Aaron to express himself and he did the same

Ackeem Auguste: Really excited and happy for the guys. It's really nice to finally win the tournament. There were some nerves but player amongst so many experienced guys. We always backed ourselves. I think I tried to emulate a lot of Faf. He is always a calm person. He always encourages me to back my abilities. I am just really happy. Nothing much I can say. Well played to Aaron Jones and Roston Chase.

Faf du Plessis: It's a special feeling. Two best teams were in the final. At one time I thought it's time to pack our bags. The depth of the squad is great. Me and Johno got some good partnerships but today it was the turn of the other guys. It was really nice to play the knockout stages here. They are very loud. As an opposition you feel the intensity of the ground after losing a few wickets. To come here and beat them is massive.

Alzarri Joseph: I am really excited to win the CPL with this franchise. Staying these four years here, it's a special feeling. This year we had a proper plan. I wouldn't say I thought we would lose but we were certainly behind the eight ball.

Johnson Charles: This means everything. We always told before that this was our year. Everyone waited for this for a long time. The boys will have fun. I had to go to some work, I could have had a better year. Next year hopefully I will score more runs and we will defend the title.

David Wiese: It's been fantastic. We have developed a good team culture and our main goal was not the playoffs but to win the championship. Look I think, you have to soak it in and enjoy the moment. Take it all in as it's a privilege to be here.

Aaron Jones: We always know that playing in a final is a challenge especially against Guyana. Basically I was trying to get in. The coaches told me that I was the one should take it on. I see myself as a match-winner

Darren Sammy: Five days ago Aaron Jones told me that I will win you the CPL final. Looking at his eyes I had the belief and so made the change. We thought about retiring him and thankfully he found his rhythm and the message was well delivered.

Roston Chase: Have been in two finals before. Had diarrhoea and told god to give me one more chance and thankfully it came off. Yeah the message came out. I told Jones that we have to get a big over. Moeen was a good match up and it came off perfectly. He took on Pretorius and then the game was in the balance. I told him to stay positive and not give his wicket away.

Faf du Plessis walks up and wins the title against a team led by another Protea Imran Tahir. This has been a fabulous run from them with Noor Ahmad chipping in, Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis starting every game with a bang with the bat in hand and now they have realised their dream as they win their maiden CPL honour. Barring Antigua and Barbadua Falcons, all teams have now won a CPL title.

Chasing 139 in ideal conditions should have been light work but it wasn't the case for the champions. They lost du Plessis and Johnson Charles cheaply and runs were getting hard to get by. Ackeem Auguste and Tim Seifert were also dismissed cheaply and at 51/4, SLK were staring down the barrel.

But then, Aaron Jones and Roston Chase convened in the middle. While the start of the partnership was a bit poor, the pair stuck through and dealt in singles and doubles. The situation got worse with SLK needing 68 runs in 30 balls before the game was turned on its head by the two men mentioned above.

Enter Moeen Ali into the attack and both Jones and Chase had a go at him, scoring 27 runs off the over he bowled. SLK began to believe and it got even more solid as the next over bowled by Pretorius, Aaron Jones managed to deal in boundaries getting 20 runs and drawing the Kings closer to the win. In a last-ditch effort, Romario Shepherd came to bowl but that didn't cut the deal as the pair managed 18 runs off the over and levelled the score.

In the end, knowing that defeat was inevitable, Tahir bowled a wide ball and ended the game, ending up on the wrong side of things.

Guyana Amazon Warriors did a great job bowling but were unlucky that Jones and Chase survived the LBW shouts in the 10th over. Four bowlers Romario Shepherd, Dwaine Pretorius, Kevin Sinclair and Moeen Ali picked up a wicket each. A little more support from the others in the attack could have helped them defend the title.

18.2 Imran Tahir to Aaron Jones, WIDE down the leg side and St Lucia Kings have won their maiden CPL title. A flatter one down the leg side and the celebrations have started for the St Lucia Kings.

18.1 Imran Tahir to Aaron Jones, the finger goes up but Jones has taken the review. That looked like sliding down leg to the naked eye, that was a flatter trajectory delivery which skids through and caught Jones on the crease there. Struck on the front leg and wickets are missing yet again. Jones will get the opportunity to finish it off.
