So, with this, we come to the end of the coverage for the 2nd T20I. We definitely would have loved to bring you the full match, but no one have a say on the weather, even after waiting so long for the game to resume. We will be back again with live action on Thursday, the 2nd of May with the 3rd match of the series. If India Women win it, they seal the series. So, will Bangladesh Women be able to keep the contest alive by taking the next game? We'll find out in two days' time. For now, this is the pair of Arya and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
India were 47/1 in 5.2 overs after a scintillating cover drive for four from the bat of Dayalan Hemalatha when the skies opened up for the second time! Unfortunately, this rain spell quashed all hopes of a resumption in play!
But for India Women, it meant victory in the end by 19 runs on the DLS method. They now have a 2-0 lead in the 5-match series with 3 more matches to play.
Positives for India will of course be the batting of Hemalatha, who scored 41 unbeaten runs at a strike rate of 170.3 and Radha Yadav, whose clever left-arm spin-bowling brought impressive figures of 3/19 in 4 overs!
Bangladesh Women needed to stem the flow of runs in these 26 deliveries, but were unable to keep things quiet, thanks to the assault by the returning Indian number 3!
As it is, due to persistent rain, there will be no further play in the 2nd T20I between Bangladesh Women and Indian Women. Which means that India have won this match by 19 runs on the DLS method.
Just to let you know, India Women are ahead by 19 runs on the DLS method.
07:30 PM local time, 7 PM IST- For the moment it's still raining steadily in Sylhet and the whole square covers are on. Resumption of play anytime soon looks bleak. We have already started losing overs. India will win if there is no more play as they are well ahead in D/L par score.
7:05 pm local time, 6:35 pm IST: The rain is back! There is another stop in play as the covers come on and the players walk off the field. Even if the game is not complete, 5 overs are done and India Women are ahead at this stage.
That cover drive is a sight for sore eyes! Hemalatha is as good as she can get off the front foot!
5.2 Marufa Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, FOUR! This is out of the top draw from Hemalatha. A half-volley outside off, Hemalatha gets a big stride forward and caresses it past the cover fielder, races away to the fence. Brilliantly timed by Hemalatha.
5.1 Marufa Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, fuller-length delivery a shade outside off, square driven straight to the point fielder.
Marufa Akter [2.0-0-7-1] comes back into the attack.
That last ball of the over was terrific from both a batting and a fielding point of view! First, that stroke through point by Smriti bisecting the fielders and then, that run to chase the ball down by Marufa! Wow!

4.6 Nahida Akter to Smriti Mandhana, that's a desperate effort from Marufa Akter and she saves a couple of runs for her team. Mandhana rocks back and places it off the backfoot past the cover-point fielder, has to settle for a couple.
4.5 Nahida Akter to Smriti Mandhana, flatter on the pads, Mandhana nudges it away from the crease, towards the square leg region.
4.4 Nahida Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, works away the slowish good-length delivery around middle, down towards the midwicket region for a single.
4.3 Nahida Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, flatter on a length around middle, punched away towards the mid on region.
4.2 Nahida Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, FOUR! Hemalatha making full use of the powerplay, a tossed-up delivery a shade outside off, ends up as a full toss and Hemalatha launches it up and over the extra cover region, off to the fence on the bounce.
Hemalatha is a destroyer of slow bowling!
4.1 Nahida Akter to Dayalan Hemalatha, SIX! This is Hemalatha at very best, Nahida starts off with a tossed-up delivery around the middle stump, she gets down on one knee and slams this downtown and comfortably clears the long-on boundary.
Nahida Akter, left-arm orthodox, is into the attack.
Smriti is keeping things simple by not doing anything silly. She knows that Hemalatha is going to play some shots and take the bowling on, so, it's better that she holds fort and bats right through.
