9:35 PM local time (11:05 PM IST): The Sharjah Warriorz were the better team in both departments of the game to remain invincible against the Dubai Capitals. With this win, they have ignited some hope of being able to qualify for the playoffs. Nevertheless, they will have to win both their games and hope for luck to favour them. For now, that is it, as I, Keshav, and my co-commentator, Bidipto, bid you a goodbye. See you soon again!
Adam Zampa is the Player of the Match: Obviously they got a little bit far in the powerplay but in my first over we could see that there's a little bit of spin and a little bit of grab. I actually love playing in Dubai because it can get a little bit skinny as well. Ash and Rohan complemented really well. We tightened the screws through the middle and put them under the pump. At halfway we were happy with 132 runs. In Dubai, particularly on the wicket we were playing on, it was bigger through the off-side. You also get a bit of air and a bit of spin along with skid from this wicket. You can use the width of the wicket which was evident tonight. Ash did really well as well. Ash and me have played a lot of cricket with each other. We love playing together, communication is easy with one another. It felt a bit nostalgic as we haven't played a lot together lately. We talked around halfway about trying and sorting out that run rate. Johnson and TKC did that pretty well. Hopefully, it would help our cause a little bit and it was good to watch.
Tim Southee (Sharjah Warriorz captain): Our spinners were outstanding! Rohan Mustafa complemented Ashton Agar and Adam Zampa really well! We have to work on our catching, that needs improvement for sure. Johnson Charles was amazing! He could not have played any better and Tom Kohler-Cadmore did a great job too!
Sikandar Raza (Dubai Capitals captain): Having to go 10 overs without a boundary was not the best thing for us. But credit to Adam Zampa, Ashton Agar and Rohan Mustafa for making full use of the conditions in their favour. I also think that we needed to play more shots when we were batting more traditionally. We should have attacked more. Johnson Charles is a fantastic cricketer! Full credit to him for batting as destructively as he did! Just took it away from us. One bad game is not going to derail us, I'm still upbeat. We have to get this game out of the system and look to win our next two.
9:19 pm local time (10:49 pm IST): It's time for the post-match presentation!
9:11 PM Local time (10:41 PM IST): Sharjah Warriorz win by 9 wickets and with 49 balls remaining
Johnson Charles wreaked havoc against the Capitals's bowlers to whack them across the park with the variety of shots in his quiver—hitting on the up, reverse sweep, and best of all, switch hit. He employed all of these to put the ball into the stands on as many as eight occasions and obviously hit an effortless half-century.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore, the other opener, had the best view in the house as Charles breathed fire, especially against tweakers. Cadmore played a second fiddle to Charles and played a relatively slow yet another crucial innings to get his side across the line.
The firepower innings from the two batters in the powerplay got the job nearly done for the visitors with 79 runs on the board with the loss of no wickets. There were a couple of decent overs in the middle, but that was followed with the carnage from the two batters. Charles lost his wicket with his feet on the gas against Raza. He walked back with just the honours of crossing the line remaining to be done. And TKC scooped the short delivery over the keeper to chase down the target under 12 overs..
The discipline from the spinners in the first innings deserves the credit to reduce the Capitals at a low-score of 131 runs and that allowed the openers to play fearlessly in the middle. With this win the Sharjah Warriorz remain invincible against the Dubai Capitals after five matches between the two sides.
11.5 Dushmantha Chameera to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, A WIN WITH A STATEMENT FROM THE WARRIORZ! FOUR RUNS TO END IT! Short on off-and-middle. Kohler-Cadmore backs away, keeps the weight on the back foot and ramps it over the in-field, down to the left of third man, for a boundary!
11.4 Dushmantha Chameera to Avishka Fernando, good length slower ball around off-stump here. Knocked to the cover area on the front foot for a quick single! Scores are level.
11.3 Dushmantha Chameera to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, full and slow outside off. Patted out to cover point from deep in the crease for a single. 50 for Kohler-Cadmore!
11.2 Dushmantha Chameera to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, FOUR RUNS! Good-length on-pace delivery around off. Kohler-Cadmore steps out and spanks it over the right of cover for a boundary!
11.1 Dushmantha Chameera to Tom Kohler-Cadmore, over the wicket, good length ball with pace taken off on middle-stump. Pushed away with the open bat face towards backward point, no run.
Dushmantha Chameera [1-0-14-0] is back into the attack
What a tidy over from Sikandar Raza that got the wicket of Johnson Charles, but it came a little too late. Raza then bowled wicket to wicket against Avishka Fernando to not let him get off the strike.
