Sam Curran is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah really good. Nice to be at the start of the tournament. To be here for the whole tournament feels great. There was bit of seam and swing. It was more of a Test match cricket. We knew it would get easier and thankfully we got over the finish line. Yeah exactly, I knew they would front load their seamers. We had so much depth. Then Sherfane came in struck and those two sixes.

Lockie Ferguson (Desert Vipers captain): It was a tough wicket to bat on but an interesting game of cricket. First the way we bowled and then the way Sam batted. Both bowling attacks bowled really well but nice to get over the line. The bowling attack knows what they are doing. Intresting field in the final over. The confidence among the group has been great.

James Vince (Gulf Giants captain): It was tough batting first. The rain yesterday meant there was more moisture. Expected to play a bit better. We never got a partnership going and 120 was always going to be very difficult to defend. With the ball, it was a spirited effort. Had we held the chances, we could have potentially got over the line.

The Desert Vipers won their second match of the third season of ILT20 after beating the Gulf Giants quite convincingly by 6 wickets and with 14 deliveries to spare. The target of 120 was never going to challenge the top-quality batting lineup of the Vipers. However, when Mark Adair dismissed Fakhar Zaman and Dan Lawrence in his opening over, the Giants were certainly in with a chance but the fielding unit didn't help the bowlers.

Sam Curran was sent in at No 4 and he shared an important stand of 49 runs with Hales. The former English opener got two reprieves and went onto score 20 but stayed there for a while which took the game deep and allowed Curran to play the waiting game. Azam Khan was sent in as the Super Sub but he couldn't make a significant impact. However it was the introduction of Sherfane Rutherford which totally changed the complexion of the game.

He came out all guns blazing and took the bowling attack apart. While Curran kept knocking it around for singles and doubles besides the occasional boundaries, Rutherford smacked a blistering 40 off just 18 deliveries which included three fours and as many sixes to take their side over the finish line. Adair was the pick of the bowlers for the Giants with a couple of wickets to his name.

17.4 Blessing Muzarabani to Sherfane Rutherford, SIX! Rutheford finishes it off in style. Shorter length delivery around the chest height, pulled away powerful by Rutherford, stood tall and dismisses this from his presence. Desert Vipers win by 6 wickets.

17.3 Blessing Muzarabani to Sherfane Rutherford, back of a length delivery around middle, Rutherford gets a top edge on the attempted pull, clears the keeper and comes back for a brace.

17.2 Blessing Muzarabani to Sherfane Rutherford, SIX! That's a colossal hit from Rutherford. Short of a length delivery around the chest height from Muzarabani, a powerful pull sho and the ball clears the backward square leg fence.

16.6 Rehan Ahmed to Sam Curran, the review has been taken for a LBW. Flighted on a fuller-length around middle, Curran goes for the sweep but doesn't get the contact. Strikes him on the pads, looked adjacent but it struck him on the knee roll.

Flat line when the ball passes the bat, ball tracking confirms that the ball would have turned down the leg stump. Curran survives.
