If Australia beat Afghanistan later today, India's slot in the semi-finals will be confirmed. However, if Afghanistan pull off an upset, it will throw the group wide open. India once again find themselves in a position not too dissimilar to the one they have in the last few major tournaments. They’re yet to lose a game in this tournament and have more or less booked their place in the semi-finals. They still have to face Australia before they start thinking about the semi-finals but the expectations will be high, as they always are. Will things turn out to be different this year? Will their wait for a trophy end this year? Only time will tell.

Rohit Sharma (Indian captain): I've been talking about that for a long time now. It's about putting it to work. It's about what we need to do and how we need to play. Considering everything, I think we adapted well. There is a little bit of here, you need to take into account and then you know be smart in how you want to choose that options, so I thought or all we were very smart with the bat and then we use the conditions really well with the ball as well. so overall was a great effort from the team. The top order laid the platform and then Hardik being Hardik, with the what is capable of today was a perfect example of what you can do with that, so you know again very crucial important for us. You know that is very goes to back and if we can keep doing that will be in good positions. The excitement that you take, specially if you discuss something and execute plan and it falls in the place you get really excited you get happy about it so that's the game you know that's what it is all about. You talk about a lot of things of the field, but eventually going out there and doing it, it is another different thing, but I thought everyone is here executed their roles.

Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh captain): We were thinking 160 or 170, which would've been good for us but credit to their batters. I don't think so, all the players are accustomed to this kind of weather, not an issue. We have lot of batting options, but we didn't show much intent in chasing a 190 plus target, especially in the first six overs. I try to contribute every game, but I like to finish games. Last couple of years, all the pace bowlers have done good job. Tanzim has done well this tournament and not to forget Rishad, luckily we have got a leg spinner.

Hardik Pandya is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: Definitely, we've played some great cricket and stuck together, really executed plans and everyone have stepped up at the right time. I did realize, the batters wanted to use the breeze. Made sure I don't give them the free hits, just bowl wide and the batter already decided to hit there and had to be one step ahead of the batter. As a group, we still can get better and we're losing wickets in bunches, need to rectify that. Teams looking good and excited for upcoming games. For me, I've always been to fortunate to play for the country. Freak injury it happened, I tried to come back and god had other plans. Put in my hard work, I give myself some opportunities so that luck come in my way.

Well, it was a fairly straightforward win for India in the end. Having been put in to bat, the Men in Blue will be delighted with how things panned out for them in this contest. Their openers haven’t been at their best in this tournament but showed signs of their old self, giving the team a solid start in the powerplay. It was Hardik Pandya’s half-century that helped them post a mammoth total on board, accompanied by cameos from Pant and Dube.

Hardik made his presence felt with the ball as well, giving India the first breakthrough and pegging Bangladesh back early on. The Tigers never quite recovered or got a move on, digging themselves a hole as they failed to move the innings along at the required tempo. The bowlers didn't do too well on this surface, leaving the batters with a mountain to climb.

It was Kuldeep Yadav who weaved his magic again, bagging three wickets in a top class spell that completely derailed the opposition. Jasprit Bumrah did what he does best, while Arshdeep was amongst the wickets as well. In the end, it was a comprehensive performance from the Indians, keeping their unbeaten run going in this tournament and booking their place in the semi finals.
