It is a used track for starters, not much improvement. Bit of water sprinkled to keep it fresh. One of Mujeeb's deliveries turned 20 kilometers slower by the time it reached the batter the other day as per hawkeye. The track is abrasive, the ball stops on the deck and takes a long time to get there. Batters need to put some action, use their feet and move across and away. Nothing comes onto them to utilize. Surface's is not going to change much. There's a stiff breeze coming across the ground, reports Shaun Pollock and Mike Haysman - the latter desperately trying to inject some life on the deck using a defibrillator.

Commentary

9:30 PM Local time (1 AM IST): The Paarl Royals finish their home leg with five wins out of five games and create a history in SA20 by becoming the first side to do it. Meanwhile, the losing run continues for the Durban's Super Giants, even as they gave a good fight to take the game deep tonight. For now, I, Keshav, on behalf of my colleague, Rajarshi, bid you a goodbye. See you soon again!

David Miller (Paarl Royals captain): Another win at home--five from five. It's been fantastic support from the local fans and supporters. Thank you very much to everyone coming out to support for the last couple of weeks. We would like to say that we would have done without you but the local fans do get behind us and that's a great vibe, so good to play in front of them again. It's a nice achievement to win five of five at home. The guys have just been phenomenal at home, just sticking to the plan and winning key moments. My right groin is a little bit tight and I am 35 now but I still feel really fit. I got a little tweak there, so let's see what happens tomorrow. I thought of getting off before it gets any worse. Dre-Pretorius has been phenomenal again. It's good to see the youngsters coming in and showing their skills. We are really lucky to have him and even more so now. It's really great to see him getting stuck in and taking teams apart. (On Kwena Maphaka) The left-armer with a lot of pace. Missed out the last game and coming in bowling really fast with the swing is just what we expected from him. Just great to see all the guys pulling together. Not everyone playing but we have made a couple of changes throughout the season. (On Bjorn Fortuin) It is a phenomenal performance from him. He loves the new ball and he is just skilful. Just doing his length and his pace--varying it a lot--and mixing out with the batters. He is just very clever with the ball. He is just highly skill. In the last three years nothing is changed with him, so it's great to have him. We have got a lot of guys in the team that we can adapt accordingly. We are looking forward to the Wanderers and then Port Elizabeth on the 1st (of February). The guys have really adapted well and we are really comfortable with where the squad's at.

Keshav Maharaj (Durban's Super Giants): (On getting emotional towards the end) Probably a decision that didn't go our way but everyone makes mistakes and it's just part and parcel of the game. Full credit must go to my boys; I am really proud of them. They have shown character right through to the end. Once again we lost the batting powerplay from that perspective. But Kane and Marcus showed their class and quality. Put a decent total on the board. I can't really isolate where we went wrong with the ball as I think we bowled well as a unit. Full credit must go to the batters in the way they batted. (Thought at halfway mark) I still thought that we would win the game over there. Maybe we were slightly behind when we had just a wicket in the middle but when we got a few wickets, the guys started to believe more. We still want to show the character in the team. There's a lot of pride to play in this competition and we are not just gonna go down without a fight. Obviously, there's no chance of qualification but still try to finish as high as we possibly can.

Rubin Hermann has been adjudged Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: It's very nice to get a chance in the SA20, it's what every local cricketer in the country works towards. Very nice to put a season together, impress the right people, very happy to contribute to the team's wins. We complement each other nicely, we both are natural cricketers, so we know we can play off each other. If I'm going well he can feed the strike to me and vice versa. It works quite nicely when we bat together. We've gelled so good as a squad - all 16 of us have contributed massively to every single one. Shows in the field the closeness together, very happy to be a part of this team. You learn so much from calm heads like David Miller, who's played for so many years, got 11,000 runs in this format. People like Joe Root and all, people like Dinesh (Karthik) as well. It's awesome, you learn so much from their calmness and the way they prepare. Keeps you calm.

The team in the pink their fifth and final game at home to become the first team to be invincible at home in SA20. With this win, they go to 28 points from 8 games and stay at the crown of the points table.

The bowlers did half the job for the Paarl Royals by holding the Durban's Super Giants under 150 runs. Coming in to chase, Joe Root lost his wicket on the first delivery of the second innings. The two youngsters in Lhuan Dre-Pretorius and Rubin Hermann then played responsibly and kept on scoring boundaries consistently to keep cruising towards the target. The two batters added 91 runs for the second wicket and steadied the ship as Rubin Hermann played the aggressor.

However, both Hermann and Dre-Pretorius lost their wickets in quick succession around the 100-run mark. That gave Keshav Maharaj and co. some hope to claw back the game but Dinesh Karthik and Mitchell van Buuren made sure that they keep on striking boundaries every over to lessen the difference between the runs required and balls remaining.

The Royals needed 14 runs in the last two overs. Karthik smacked a maximum on the third delivery to take it down to 7 runs off 9 deliveries. On the next ball, he looked to slash the length delivery behind point but instead feathered it to QDK behind the wickets.

The situation became slightly nervy with 6 runs needed off the last over. Dayyan Galiem kept his calm and smacked the fifth delivery of the over into the stands to keep Royals undefeated at home.

19.5 Wiaan Mulder to Dayyaan Galiem, GALIEM DOES BETTER INDEED! He takes Paarl Royals over the line with a crunching blow! Mulder goes short of a length at pace again, landing it around off stump. Galiem stands tall, reads the bounce well enough and pulls. The ball meets the middle of the bat and sails over the hoardings at mid wicket. Paarl Royals remain unbeaten at home in this year's SA20, and that is well and truly the end of Durban's Super Giants' 2025 campaign!

Keshav Maharaj has appealed for a caught behind, in order to get the wide decision overturned. However, the third umpire does not change the on-field umpire's decision.

19.4 Wiaan Mulder to Dayyaan Galiem, wide, Mulder goes full, tries the wide yorker, Galiem gave himself room, tried to go over cover but didn't get bat to bat. Seemed like Mulder nailed the wide yorker... until the umpire spreaded his arms. De Kock wanted to review it for a wide... which can't be done in the SA20. DSG then sent it upstairs for a caught behind, hoping for the wide call to be overturned.

Clear gap between bat and ball. The decision of wide won't be overturned either. Maharaj is livid.

That could have been a catch, if the fielder would have stayed a tad ahead.

19.3 Wiaan Mulder to Mitchell Van Buuren, on a hard length on off. Van Buuren makes room, chips it towards the fielder on the edge of the circle at cover, who runs in but has to gather it on the bounce. The batters collect a quick run
