Hello everyone! Welcome to Sportskeeda's ongoing live coverage of the SA20 League, 2025! Pretoria Capitals will host Sunrisers Eastern Cape in Match 7 at SuperSport Park, Centurion. Bringing all the action to you from this game is the commentary pair of Bidipto and Keshav.
Both teams have played 2 matches up to now but both are yet to register a win. While the Capitals have seen one of their games get washed out, the defending champions are yet to get on the board!
It was a nail-biting game we had at Kingsmead, where a mammoth 209 score almost got chased down by Pretoria Capitals! In fact, from a position of strength, they ended up losing by only 2 runs. However, in the 1st innings, the left-arm spin of Senuran Muthusamy returned with impressive figures of 3/21 in 4 overs, amidst all the carnage. Unfortunately, Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 43-ball 89 was not enough to take Rilee Rossouw's side home. After that, we were supposed to have a return fixture, in which Durban's Super Giants would play the Capitals in the latter's den, but rain had its say!
In the very first match of the season against MI Cape Town, at home, Sunrisers Eastern Cape gave away 174 runs with Richard Gleeson finishing his 4 overs taking 2 wickets for 22. But then came a forgettable 2nd innings! They got bowled out for a paltry 77, with skipper Aiden Markram's run-a-ball 19 being the highest score. In their second game, they suffered at the hands of Paarl Royals. Batting first, Markram's 82 runs with a strike rate of 167.35 helped the Sunrisers post 175 for the loss of 5 wickets. However, the match ended in the 4th ball of the 19th over with the hosts triumphing by 9 wickets. Marco Jansen was the sole wicket-taker there.
