Commentary

Adam Zampa is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah I was trying to do my role. It's my role to get wickets in the middle and the back end. Obviously I am a natural competitor. I love bowling against good batters. Happy to get Russell today. I was actually under the pump after my first 11 deliveries. We spoke about the match up against Dre Russ. It could have gone either way but you had to take the chances as he is such a big player.

Tim Southee (Sharjah Warriorz captain): Yeah I think the back end bowling was very good. We kept picking wickets and that is the best way to restrict in this format. It was more of the same. The last few minutes wasn't great but majority of the game was good. Yeah it's nice to be picking up at the right time in the tournament. I think the last three games we have produced better performances.

Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders captain): We were in the fight right till the end, but we should have scored more runs towards the back-end of our innings. Also, in the bowling power play, we were not able to restrict them. We are not quite coming out on top in the key moments, but we are still in the tournament, two matches to go, so we will try to win both. I'll see if I need to bowl again in the power play, it all depends on the situation more than anything else.

A game which should have been won by the Sharjah Warriorz fair and square was dragged on till the final over but eventually, they managed to win the game by 4 wickets. At one stage, it looked the Warriorz would chase it down with at least four four overs to spare but the departure of Johnson Charles opened the floodgates for the Knight Riders but the eventual target was a bit too less in the end.

The opening duo of Johnson Charles and Tom Kohler-Cadmore got them off to an absolute flyer and it almost put the match to bed. Charles was the first to take the charge but TKC wasn't too far away either. Both the openers kept blazing the Knight Riders bowlers to all corners of the park, racing to 66 inside the 5th over. TKC smashed Vijaykanth Viyaskanth for 18 runs off the first four deliveries of the 5th over but perished in the fifth delivery in an attempt to clear the fence yet again.

Despite the departure of TKC, Charles continued the great work and continued fund by the boundaries on a consistent basis. He went onto score a magnificent 65 off 35 deliveries but he kept losing his partners at the other end. Jason Roy and Tim Seifert didn't show responsibility and was dismissed at crucial junctures of the game but it was the wicket of Charles which actually helped Abu Dhabi keep their hopes alive.

The match went on till the final over but eventually a top edge from Harmeet Singh and a lusty blow from Ashton Agar eased the nerves and went on to win by 4 wickets with an over to spare. ADKR bowlers took the game deep but it was their below par batting performance which haunted them in the end eventually came back to haunt them. Sunil Narine and Jason Holder were the pick of the bowlers for the Knight Riders, bagging a couple of wickets each.

19.1 Ibrar Ahmed Shah to Harmeet Singh, round the wicket, WON'T BE FOUR, BUT THAT IS THE COUPLE OF RUNS NEEDED FOR THE WARRIORZ TO END THE MATCH! WELL, IT IS A FRONT-FOOT NO-BALL AS WELL! Short and well-directed on middle-and-leg. Harmeet went for the pull shot on the back foot in haste. But he managed to get it over short fine-leg off the top edge for the runs required.

Ibrar Ahmed [1-0-24-0] is back into the attack for the final over.

Three dots to end the over and Hinds has managed to stretch the match to the final over which looked scarcely believable four five overs ago.

This game is going down to the wire folks. It all looked done and dusted four overs ago but all of a sudden with three exceptional overs and poor batting from the Sharjah Warriorz, the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders have still managed to stay in with a hunt here.
