Ishan Kishan (Player of the Match, 106* off 47 balls): The nervousness was there! But the captain and the coach gave me the freedom to express myself. That always helps. I've had a lot of time in between, so I've worked hard on my game. This is the kind of surface that you want to carry with you everywhere! But the kind of start Abhishek and Travis gives is always helpful for the middle-order. Pat Cummins knows what to bring out of the rest of the team and so, lets players like me go about my work in the best way possible.

Pat Cummins [Sunrisers Hyderabad captain]: I wouldn't want to be bowling to our boys! It's quite scary how easily they score 280! You're going to go for runs here, but when you have such a big score, a quiet over here and there changes the game. Ishan Kishan today was incredible. We've had the core group in place, obviously lost a couple of players, but I think the preparation has been amazing! The coaching staff has been here for a few weeks now and worked a lot with us.

Harshal Patel [Sunrisers Hyderabad]: Pretty happy with it, I felt we were better with the execution barring a few overs. Whatever we've planned in the meeting, we were able to execute on the field with 280 plus on the board. The coaches don't believe in too much talking, the initial chat was on how we can be defensive and how we can compliment our batting line-up. There's a fine line to be honest, it all depends on the context of the game. Will need to bowl more conventionally, whenever you put 270 on the board, you got to be defensive and let the opposition to more work. I don't remember any ground being easy in the IPL. The wickets are flat, grounds are small, the mindsets of the batters have changed significantly, you have to be on top of your execution as a bowler.

Riyan Parag [Rajasthan Royals captain]: It was tough, just like I expected. Credit to SRH the way they batted, but we could've executed our plans better but we need to go back to drawing board and see what can be made better. Collectively we took the decision, it was the right decision, we didn't execute the plans the way we wanted to. We could've restricted them a little lesser, 220 or 240 would've been a good score to chase. Some of the batters looked great, Sanju, Jurel batted well. Lot of key positives to take from this game. Whether it's a win or loss, you need to take learnings and move on.

A run chase of over 285 runs is always going to be tough for any team, no matter how good the wicket is. It did stay like that, but Rajasthan Royals gave a good account of themselves with the bat.

Scoring over 240 runs in 20 overs with 6 wickets lost is a pretty decent effort. So, from the batting side of things, the team in pink can take a lot of heart from this performance in the second innings. Had they restricted the first innings score to under 220, it could have been a different story altogether.

The batting line-up required one big hundred in there, but that did not come. But there were some good contributions along the way. Shubham Dubey's 11-ball unbeaten 34 was special! Dhruv Jurel's classy batting was eye-catching too! Of course, Sanju Samson found himself among the runs, once again, to begin an IPL season for the Royals.

Harshal Patel was the only bowler to go at less than 9 RPO and take a couple of wickets. But the rest went the journey. Catching on the whole was average from Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the captaincy from Pat Cummins was quite calming on his players. He did not drift too much and kept things as simple as he could.

On the whole, it was the first innings batting effort from SRH that stole the show and took the game away from RR. But it does seem as though the pitch in Hyderabad will remain a batting beauty, all be it that the ball may turn more than expected, along the way!
