Sydney Sixers won by 5 wickets (on the final delivery of the match)
The Sydney Sixers continued their dominant run over the Sydney Thunder, defeating them by 5 wickets in the final delivery of the over. At the halfway stage, it looked just an above-par score and the Sixers needed to bat well to chase this down. The opening duo of Josh Philippe and James Vince provided a steady start with a partnership of 34 runs before a terrible mix up between the two resulted in the departure of Vince.
Philippe took his time initially but started looking much more confident of his strokeplay as the innings progressed. He smacked a couple of fours and sixes each en route to his knock of 35 off 27 deliveries before Philippe was sent back to the pavilion by Daniel Sams. Jack Edwards and Moises Henriques joined hands to resurrect the innings. The captain didn't manage to find the boundaries in the middle overs.
Edwards slowly started getting into his groove but just when he looked like turning towards the Sixers, it was a brilliant direct throw from David Warner which brought about his downfall. Henriques struggled his way to a 22 ball 17 before Lockie Ferguson got the important wicket. Jordan Silk was out in the middle and needed to rise to the occasion. However, he wasn't getting enough support from the other end.
That is when Ben Dwarshuis came out in the middle and took the Thunder bowling attack by the scruff of the neck. He smashed a lusty blow to get underway and then smacked a massive six off the penultimate over of the match to see their side through. With this victory, the Sixers have extended their head-to-head record to 9-2.
Ben Dwarshuis (Sydney Sixers) - " Silk and I were trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good game. It worked well for us. It was nice to get some of the middle of the bat. Green bowled really well so credit to him. I was waiting for him to make the mistake. These bats from NB are working well for me. I was a bit disappointed with my first two overs and wanted to bounce back later. Was good to take those two wickets. There is a lot to this rivalry and always special to get in the win."
The Sydney Sixers have won here in the most dramatic of circumstances. What an incredible little cameo from Ben Dwarshuis. Good presence of mind to knock it around for a single and get it done. Chris Green almost pulled it off but it wasn't to be in the end. The Sixers again managing to hold their nerves and deliver the killer punch.

19.6 Chris Green to Ben Dwarshuis, SINGLE TAKEN AND DWARSHUIS HITS THE WINNING RUNS! The SYDNEY SIXERS WIN BY 5 WICKETS! It was a flatter delivery and around the middle stump line. Dwarshuis goes for the glance of his pads and he gets it behind square on the on side for a single to close out the game for his side.
1 needed off 1 ball. Will it be Chris Green who bowls a dot ball and takes it to a super over?
19.5 Chris Green to Ben Dwarshuis, SIXXXXX!! BOOM!! Green bowls the full toss under pressure and Dwarshuis gets underneath that one. He launches it miles back into the night sky and it goes well over deep mid wicket for a MAXIMUM.
19.4 Chris Green to Jordan Silk, bowled full and right into the base of off stump. Silk slashes at it and gets an outside edge towards short third. Will be a single.
19.3 Chris Green to Jordan Silk, ANOTHER ONEE!! This one was full and outside off stump again. The umpire thought it was outside the wide line.
19.3 Chris Green to Jordan Silk, WIDE!! This one is too full and outside the line of off stump. Green will need to re-bowl that one.
19.3 Chris Green to Ben Dwarshuis, too full and right into the block hole outside off stump. Dwarshuis smashes it to extra cover for a single.
19.2 Chris Green to Ben Dwarshuis, fuller and pushed through quicker at over 100 clicks outside off. Dwarshuis slashes it away towards deep cover and picks up a couple.
19.1 Chris Green to Ben Dwarshuis, tossed up and wide outside off stump at 97 kmph. Dwarshuis slices it away over the backward point region. There was no timing but it fell in no man's land. Will be a brace.
Just 9 runs coming off that Lockie Ferguson over which has made things pretty interesting. 15 more needed off the final over which will be bowled by Chris Green.
