Bowman's father, Sean Bowman has always been there for his son throughout the latter's racing career. He owns a small car body shop in Arizona. However, he is not just an owner and as Bowman says, his father likes to get “his hands dirty”. Needless to say, if it weren't for his dad, Alex Bowman wouldn't have the mechanical knowledge about race cars that he has today.

“My dad was, and still is, a huge part of my racing career,” said Bowman in an interview with Team Valvoline, a long-time Hendrick Motorsports sponsor. “He shaped my love and passion for cars as a kid and he got me started in racing, and did a lot for me to get to this point.”

He was then asked what is the most useful quality that Bowman has inherited from his father? The driver answered: “Learning his work ethic and learning what it takes to get stuff done,” he admitted. “I grew up managing school and building my own race cars and he was always busy, so we worked a lot of late nights and early mornings.”
