The 2023 NFL free agency period kicked off in a traditionally crazy fashion this week, with franchises spending vast amounts of cash to grab some of the best available talent.

The Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons made the biggest moves, with the pair of NFC teams looking to return to the playoffs after a long hiatus.

The Bears made Tremaine Edmunds the highest-paid inside linebacker in the NFL, while Atlanta made Jessie Bates the fourth highest-paid safety in NFL history.

While these sought-after players were quickly snapped up, plenty of talent remains heading into Day 2 of 2023 NFL free agency.

2023 NFL free agency: 10 best players still available

#1 - Lamar Jackson

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson technically remains a FA, despite the team putting the non-exclusive franchise tag on him.

If any team offers Jackson a contract, Baltimore has to match it, or he will be traded for the price of two first-round draft picks.

Many fans were shocked when many teams immediately ruled themselves out of signing Jackson, one of the best QBs in football when healthy and the 2019 MVP.

#2 - Orlando Brown

Jackson's former teammate Orlando Brown is still a free agent heading into day 2.

Brown picked up a Super Bowl ring in 2022 as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting left tackle but has hit free agency in the hopes of a big payday.

Brown was solid during the regular season before excelling in the playoffs as the blindside protector for Patrick Mahomes.

#3 - Chauncey Gardner-Johnson

C.J. Gardner-Johnson only joined the Philadelphia Eagles for the 2022 season, and now finds himself a free agent.

A former member of the Saints, Gardner-Johnson was pivotal as the Eagles' stout defense helped them all the way to Super Bowl LVII.

The safety has been touted to join the Cincinnati Bengals after they lost both their starting safeties - Jessie Bates and Vonn Bell - in day 1 of free agency.

#4 - Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. still finds himself without a team as day 2 of the 2023 free agency kicks off. OBJ has been without a team since leaving the L.A. Rams following their Super Bowl LVI victory in 2021.

Beckham tore his ACL in that game, and despite being linked to a host of franchises throughout 2022, remained unsigned.

OBJ has made three Pro Bowls and two All-Pros, and has been one of the best wide receivers of his generation. At just 30-years-old he still has plenty to offer if he can stay healthy.

#5 - David Montgomery

The Chicago Bears have been busy starting 2023 NFL free agency, but their starting running back remains on the market.

David Montgomery is yet to be picked up by a team for 2023 after rushing for 849 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022.

Montgomery split carries with Khalil Herbert, who the team seems to be leaning towards for next season, but Montgomery is a bell-cow back who will hope to land with a contender for the upcoming season.

#6 - DE Jadeveon Clowney

#7 - TE Dalton Schulz

#8 - LB Azeez Al-Shaair

#9 - CB Byron Murphy

#10 - RB Miles Sanders

Honorable mention: Aaron Rodgers

Detroit Lions v Green Bay Packers

As well as the aforementioned, Aaron Rodgers' tenure with the Green Bay Packers looks to be coming to an end.

After spending 18 years with the team, Rodgers looks set to make a move to the New York Jets, with both teams locked in negotiations to get a deal done.

If Rodgers was to leave Green Bay, he will go down as arguably the greatest quarterback in franchise history, with 475 passing touchdowns to go along with 59,055 yards.

He has won four NFL MVP awards and led the Packers to Super Bowl glory in 2010.
