The Cincinnati Bengals narrowly missed the playoffs after a late surge in the 2024 regular season. They finished third in the NFC North with a 9-8 record, but their poor early-season form eventually cost them.
While several Cincinnati players stepped up to the occasion toward the final stretch, some never really got going.

#1. Zack Moss
Moss signed for the Bengals in the 2024 offseason and there was hope that the running back would add another dynamic force in the offense. However, he struggled to get up to speed in his first season with the franchise.
Furthermore, in November, Moss suffered a neck injury in practice, which ruled him out for the season. He was placed on the IR, leading to an underwhelming first year in Cincinnati.
Moss finished the season with 242 yards and two touchdowns in 74 carries. He also contributed 187 yards and caught a touchdown on 27 receptions across eight games.
#2. Khalil Herbert
The Bengals traded for Herbert from the Chicago Bears in November. However, the running back was another player who didn't make a positive impact on the franchise.
Herbert played in eight games for Cincinnati and posted 114 yards on 28 attempts, along with 21 yards on eight catches. Despite the Bengals winning games toward the end of the regular season, Herbert never clicked into gear.
#3. Sheldon Rankins
Rankins was among the key Bengals defensive players who had injury problems in 2024. The defensive tackle missed three games early in the season with a hamstring injury and then sat out the final seven games later in the campaign with an illness.
During his time on the gridiron, Rankins recorded 18 tackles and 1.0 sacks across seven games. His unavailability led to problems for Cincinnati's defense, which looked unsettled throughout the season.
