3 CeeDee Lamb trade packages that could benefit the Cowboys in 2024

Dallas Cowboys superstar wide receiver CeeDee Lamb wants a new contract, and the Pro Bowler has begun a holdout. According to reports, Lamb didn't appear at Tuesday's start of the Cowboys' mandatory minicamp.

While all these could be a smokescreen for a blockbuster renewal between Lamb and the Cowboys, it could also be the beginning of the end of the pass catcher's time in Dallas.

Hence, before the upcoming season, we explore a few CeeDee Lamb trade packages that could benefit the Cowboys if they can't agree a deal with him.

Three CeeDee Lamb trade packages that could benefit the Dallas Cowboys

Here are three CeeDee Lamb trade packages that could set the Cowboys up for future success:

#1 Carolina Panthers: RB Miles Sanders, WR Jonathan Mingo, and a conditional sixth-round pick

The Carolina Panthers had the worst regular season record in the 2023-24 NFL season. That was largely due to the need for elite pass-catching options for the 2023 NFL Draft's number-one pick, Bryce Young.

Hence, the Panthers could offer the Dallas Cowboys a package involving running back Miles Sanders, wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a conditional sixth-round pick in exchange for CeeDee Lamb. Moreover, the Panthers have drafted potential replacements for Sanders and Mingo in Jonathan Brooks and Xavier Legette via the 2024 NFL Draft.

Both Sanders and Mingo could play a role in Dallas. Sanders would be a clear upgrade in the Cowboys' running back room, while Mingo should compete in an open wide receiver room.

The Cowboys would have to make a few adjustments to conveniently absorb Sanders' contract while Mingo has three years remaining on his rookie deal. Plus, a sixth-round conditional pick could be a nice sweetener to the deal.

#2 Los Angeles Chargers: WR Ladd McConkey and a first-round pick

Due to cap-saving measures, the Los Angeles Chargers traded away a Pro Bowl wide receiver, Keenan Allen. Hence, Jim Harbaugh is without a statement wide receiver to begin his first season back in the NFL after a stellar time coaching the Michigan Wolverines at the collegiate level.

A trade for CeeDee Lamb could solve that problem, and a trade around Ladd McConkey and a first-round pick would be difficult for the Cowboys to decline. They would get a young pass catcher with a lot of potential and a first-round pick from a franchise that failed to make the playoffs last season.

The move will free up much-needed cap space for the Dallas Cowboys ahead of potential renewals for Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons. Furthermore, Ladd McConkey would be a decent addition and a great running mate for Prescott.

#3 New England Patriots: WR Ja'Lynn Polk and a first-round pick

The New England Patriots will always have a spot in modern NFL history, and many players in the league supported the franchise growing up. Hence, playing in Foxborough Stadium will always appeal, even though the team has been different since Tom Brady left.

The Patriots could fast-track their rebuild under Jerod Mayo by agreeing with the Cowboys for a CeeDee Lamb trade. In exchange, the team could offer rookie pass catcher Ja'Lynn Polk and a 2025 first-round draft pick.

The trade offer should appeal to the Cowboys, as they'd be getting the best of both worlds. In Ja'Lynn Polk, they would get a dynamic pass catcher who was just drafted in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Furthermore, they would get a first-round pick from one of the worst-constructed teams in the NFL. Hence, they could have a top-five pick in the upcoming Draft if Mayo isn't successful in his rookie season as a National Football League coach.

Furthermore, the Cowboys would save a lot in salary and invest the money in other important areas. Meanwhile, the Patriots would get one of the best wide receivers in the league to pair with number three overall pick Drake Maye for the present and future.
