Deep sleeper RBs in 2024 fantasy football

Finding sleepers in fantasy football can sometimes be the difference between a good roster and a great one. The later on in the draft that those sleepers are found, the more overall value they bring to a fantasy team. Managers who can find a potential starter in a round where most other teams are filling out their bench will likely pay off in a big way during a fantasy season.

Running backs are likely a position where this strategy could have the biggest impact. They have always been among the most important players in fantasy football, due to the unmatched upside that an elite running back adds to a roster. Here are three of them that could mistakenly get overlooked in many fantasy drafts this year.

#1 - Kendre Miller

While Alvin Kamara appears to be past the prime of his career at this point, the New Orleans Saints have been looking to get him some help. They added Jamaal Williams last year and also drafted Kendre Miller, an intriguing late-round target in fantasy football drafts last year.

Injuries derailed Miller's rookie season, but in his limited action, he flashed a glimpse of his upside. The best example of this was the Saints' final game of the 2023 season when he set season-highs with 13 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown.

#2 - J.K. Dobbins

After once being among the most exciting running back prospects in the entire NFL, injuries have unfortunately held J.K. Dobbins back. He finished as the overall RB17 in his rookie season in 2020 but has appeared in just nine games for the Baltimore Ravens since then.

Dobbins switched teams during the offseason and will now join Jim Harbaugh's offense with the Los Angeles Chargers. The head coach often prefers a run-heavy approach and the team lacks a star running back after moving on from Austin Ekeler.

#3 - Tyjae Spears

The Tennessee Titans parted ways with workhorse Derrick Henry during the offseason, opening up a ton of touches in their offensive system. While they added Tony Pollard during free agency, it could end up being Tyjae Spears, who they drafted last year, who emerges as their featured running back.

Even if Spears plays a complementary role to Pollard, he could still be valuable in fantasy football, given his proven ability to make big plays and catch passes out of the backfield. He's worth a shot in the late rounds of fantasy drafts, and if he carves out a large enough workload, could be extremely valuable to fantasy football rosters.
