The Tennessee Titans ended the 2024 regular season with the worst record in the league. Subsequently, they were given the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.
The Titans aren't as bad as their record suggests, as they lost many close games. However, there's a reason they went 3-14 this season.
Hence, with the general offseason a couple of weeks away, let's examine three moves that head coach Brian Callahan should make to turn the Titans into contenders.

Three moves that Brian Callahan should make for the Tennessee Titans to contend for the Super Bowl
1. Get a new defensive coordinator
The Tennessee Titans conceded 20 points in all but three games in the 2024 regular season.
With quite the resume, Dennard Wilson joined the Titans ahead of the 2024 season. However, his unit's struggles contributed significantly to the Titans finishing with just three wins all season.
There are a couple of decent defensive specialists in the market, such as Don Martindale of the Michigan Wolverines, New York Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich and former New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen. All three would be upgrades on Wilson.
However, if the Titans are serious about contending, they should take a close look at former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. Wilks is one of the most regarded coaching brains in the NFL and his head coaching experience with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals could be useful next season. Hiring him would be a great sign of intent.
2. Draft Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders
The Tennessee Titans have been in quarterback purgatory since the start of Ryan Tannehill’s decline (there's a reason he's still out of the league). The Titans selected Will Levis in the second round of the 2023 draft, but Levis hasn't been great as a starter.
The Titans can end the Levis experience by using the number one pick to select one of two elite QBs fresh out of college. They could draft Miami Hurricanes standout Cam Ward or Colorado Buffaloes gunslinger Shedeur Sanders.
Both quarterbacks have strengths and the Titans will need to study them extensively to make their pick. It's important that the Titans schedule meetings, Pro Day visits and send scouts to the draft combine to evaluate Ward and Sanders.
3. Draft a dynamic wide receiver for their new quarterback
You have to feel for Will Levis. He started the season with a top-notch wide receiver duo of DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley, but Hopkins was shipped out to the Kansas City Chiefs before the trade deadline.
The Titans must fill the WR2 spot in the offseason and the most affordable way to do so is via the upcoming draft. Hence, the Titans could package a pick or two to their second-round pick and trade up to select one of Tre Harris or Emeka Egbuka. Both players have similar builds and they'll be assets for whoever starts at QB in Week 1 of the 2025 regular season.
