The Denver Broncos are expected to begin looking ahead in the offseason after finishing their best season since 2015.

To assist the Broncos meet their next array of objectives for the upcoming season, head coach Sean Payton is aware that it will be critical to find strategies to improve the team.

Bo Nix showed fans during the 2024 season that he is capable of being Denver's franchise quarterback going forward, so the Broncos can now concentrate on strengthening the other parts of their roster.

Priority moves for Sean Payton and Broncos in the offseason

#1. Get a lead running back

The Broncos' inability to run the ball during the 2024 season is well known. Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Tyler Badie and Blake Watson will all likely still be on the team's books next season; however, arguably none of them are top-tier running backs, therefore the team should aim to add an RB1 in the offseason.

Ashton Jeanty, the Boise State sensation, will end up at the top of most teams' draft boards in 2025. Although he would be a fantastic addition to the Broncos' roster, it is unlikely that he will be available when they select at No. 20.

Nevertheless, an abundance of other draft prospects, such as Ohio State's Quinshon Judkins, North Carolina's Omarion Hampton and Iowa's Kaleb Johnson might have an impact on Denver's running offense.

#2. Add more pass-catchers

If the Broncos want to boost their passing attack quickly, it would be wise to add another established wide receiver to the fray. They might go after a prominent receiver in free agency, such as Tampa Bay Bucs' Chris Godwin or Cincinnati Bengals' Tee Higgins.

Additionally, the team is severely deficient when it comes to pass-catching tight ends, so it would be logical to add one as well.

However, since this year's class isn't quite as deep at that position, it doesn't appear they will have the opportunity to address it in free agency. However, if any experienced TEs were to become available, a trade for them could be on the cards.

#3. Bring in a linebacker

Denver boasted a strong defense in 2024, but its linebackers still showed signs of weakness, particularly after Alex Singleton's season-ending injury.

While there isn't much depth in the 2025 draft class at linebacker, several elite linebackers who could immediately strengthen the Broncos' defense are set to become free agents. Tyrel Dodson, Dre Greenlaw, Lavonte David, Zack Baun and Nick Bolton are just a few players who jump out.
