The 2024 NFL season might be a few months away, but there are already several coaches on the hot seat. In 2023, eight NFL head coaches were fired during or right after the end of the season.
Entering 2024, there are a couple of coaches who need their teams to get off to a strong start or could be let go mid-season.
3 NFL HCs who could be fired mid-season in 2024
#1 Brian Daboll, New York Giants
Brian Daboll was hired to be the head coach of the New York Giants in 2022 and led the Giants to a 9-7-1 record in his first season while making it to the playoffs.

Daboll was named the Associated Press 2022 NFL Coach of the Year after his first season with the Giants. But, in 2023, the team struggled as the Giants went 6-11.
If New York starts badly in 2024 as it did in 2023, the franchise could fire Daboll, who is firmly on the hot seat.
#2 Robert Saleh, New York Jets
The New York Jets hired Robert Saleh in 2021 and gave him a five-year deal to be their next coach.
However, with Saleh leading, New York has yet to make the playoffs or be above .500. The Jets went 4-13 in his first season and have gone 7-10 in the last two years.
New York went out and traded for Aaron Rodgers last season, who got hurt in the first game of the year. However, Rodgers will be healthy in 2024, and because of that, there are playoff hopes for New York.
If the Jets struggle out of the gates, Saleh could very well be fired, as Rodgers is now 40 and the time is now for New York to win. The Jets can't afford to slip up early in the year, so the pressure is on Saleh to start strong or could be fired mid-season.
#3 Dennis Allen, New Orleans Saints
Dennis Allen is entering his third year as the New Orleans Saints coach, and he's looking for his first playoff appearance.
Allen was promoted to head coach in 2022, and in his first season, the Saints struggled and went 7-10. In 2023, New Orleans went 9-8 but failed to make the playoffs.
The Saints play in a bad NFC South division, so the expectation should be winning it and making the playoffs. New Orleans can't afford a slow start, and if it does, Allen could very well be fired.
