Some NFL proprietors still prefer to stay out of politics. However, more NFL owners publicly support candidates for political office and groups for non-football-related motives, such as promoting their own ideologies or furthering other commercial objectives.

The political contributions of NFL owners mainly were restricted to a small number of high rollers before the last U.S. presidential election in 2020. However, more NFL owners have reportedly made large donations to federal political candidates and groups during this year's election season.
