3 NFL teams that should resist from making a trade for Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. is reportedly getting healthier and is close to returning to the NFL in mid-November. Considering the form he was in before getting injured, he will be a hot commodity in free agency.

To recap, Odell Beckham Jr. was playing sensational football last season after joining the Los Angeles Rams from the Cleveland Browns. He carried that form all the way into the Super Bowl and was playing as well as ever in the match.

However, he tore his ACL during that match and did not finish the game as the Rams went on to win the Super Bowl. But he was pivotal in their success and one would have thought that he would remain there. He, however, has not signed anywhere yet and there are rumors from all around the league that he will sign.

Former teammates and friends have tried to woo him to their neck of the woods. Von Miller, who like Odell Beckham Jr. also spent part of last season with the Los Angeles Rams, left for a new team this offseason.

Now with the Buffalo Bills, he has tried to recruit Odell Beckham Jr. to Buffalo and has made no secret that he would love to have him there. Similarly, Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants recently set Twitter abuzz after his interactions with the wide receiver made it seem that a return to the team that drafted him was a possibility.

Beyond player interactions, there have been rumors of Odell Beckham Jr. visiting the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well. He is a Louisana native and going back home and elevating the local team might have a strong appeal to him.

There is also the fact that having lost Michael Thomas, they do need reinforcements in the receiver position.

For the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the issue is somewhat similar. Despite having a plethora of players on their depth chart who can play as receivers, having them consistently on the field has been a problem.

They have also been let down by circumstances beyond their control. For example, they signed Cole Beasley only for him to then inform them of his desire to retire.

The latest team that is now in the mix seems to be the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones recently confirmed his admiration for the wide receiver and legends like Michael Irvin and Troy Aikman are openly discussing the possibility.

The above rumors are understandable given how excellent Odell Beckham Jr. has been throughout his career. Below is a list of three other teams that have been linked to him as well. But he might be better off not signing for them.

Let's look at the list of three teams that should avoid signing Odell Beckham Jr.

#1 - Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams could become an obvious choice for Odell Beckham Jr. once he becomes fully fit. There are positives for both sides here. He last played with them and knows the playing scheme.

He is comfortable with Sean McVay's play-calling. He also seems to have a good rapport with quarterback Matthew Stafford and fellow wide receiver Cooper Kupp. Furthermore, the Rams are struggling with a No. 2 receiver behind Kupp and it would make a lot of sense to have him back as he would be able to slot in immediately.

Yet, the Los Angeles Rams should not go back for him. Once a player has publicly stated that he did not find their offer appealing, then the organization must take a clean break from it.

Getting him back now would demoralize the other people there and make it look as if the front office does not value the players there. It could create a negative team spirit and also undermine the team's cohesion. Therefore, for purely non-football related reasons, the Los Angeles Rams should not make a jump for Odell Beckham Jr.

#2 - Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have often been mentioned as a destination for Odell Beckham Jr. At first glance, it makes a lot of sense.

The Chiefs have an explosive offense led by a generational quarterback in Patrick Mahomes. Coach Andy Reid prefers pass-heavy options in his play calling that will give wide receivers a lot of opportunity. They are going to be competitive in the offseason.

Adding someone like Odell Beckham Jr. would immediately increase their chances of returning to the Super Bowl and winning it. He would slot into the void left by Tyreek Hill, when they let him join the Miami Dolphins.

Despite all the reasons above, they must remember why they got rid of Tyreek Hill in the first place. He was eating into their budget cap and a recent Super-Bowl winner will also not come cheap.

They have already replaced Hill's output using JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They sit on just $1.36 million in cap space and mortgaging the future does not seem to be a good idea at this point.

#3 - Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are in desperate need of adding depth to their receiver corps. Having lost Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason, they are struggling with their passing output.

Losing the aforementioned Marquez Valdes-Scantling certainly did not help either. Adding someone with the caliber of Odell Beckham Jr. would certainly put a lot of things right.

Aaron Rodgers will suddenly have an elite offensive tool that he is lacking this season. It might still allow them to salvage the season from a 3-4 record after Week 7 and make it to the playoffs.

However, rooting for Odell Beckham Jr. is a bad idea because of the team dynamics it may produce.

Beckham is one of the best in the business and that comes with an attitude. The same is true for Aaron Rodgers as well. Putting them both together in one locker room might just be too combustible, especially on a losing team.

Rodgers has not shied away from blaming his teammates as the Packers struggled this season. Odell Beckham Jr. was not coy in calling out Eli Manning when he was with the Giants and they were losing.

The offense might get explosive, but not in the way the Packers faithful might want. Trading for an alternative like Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans might be a better way for them to go.
