3 NFL teams that should stay away from Antonio Brown in 2023

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Carolina Panthers
Antonio Brown #81 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers warms up before the game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on December 26, 2021 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

We miss the days when Antonio Brown was about balling out on the Gridiron rather than being a regular in the tabloids for all the wrong reasons. Casual NFL fans might not know, but the man affectionately known as AB used to be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. He was Big Ben Roethlisberger's favorite weapon in a dynamic Pittsburgh Steelers offense, and he has the All-Pro nods to prove it.

However, something has since changed, and it's a whole different Antonio Brown that the world sees these days. Well, it's yet another off-season, and NFL teams are in the process of creating their rosters for the upcoming season.

Some of the teams are in dire need of an experienced wide receiver, and Brown sure ticks that box. Sadly, only some teams can deal with the baggage he brings to the table, and these three teams should stay far away from the Super Bowl game-winning pass catcher.

Three Teams That Should Avoid Signing Antonio Brown in 2023

In no particular order, here are three teams that should stay away and resist the urge to offer Antonio Brown an NFL contract heading into 2023.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The name might have popped up in your mind as soon as you saw the title of this piece. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have no business giving Antonio Brown a chance to resurrect his ailing career in Florida. Brown infamously quit on the team at the tail end of the 2021 NFL season, so why should the team suddenly offer him the olive branch, especially now that Tom Brady is gone.

Brady helped keep the super erratic AB in check during his two seasons in Tampa, and we struggled to see anyone that can play that role in 2023.

Furthermore, the Buccaneers still have two of the best pass catchers in the league, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin; trust us when we say that they are good in the West, s/o to Ja Morant. But seriously, the Bucs shouldn't offer Brown a contract heading into 2023, even if the rumors of trading away one of Godwin or Evans are true.

2. Baltimore Ravens

Yes, Lamar Jackson needs wide receivers to take the Baltimore Ravens to the promised land. Yes, Antonio Brown publicly flirted with the Ravens all summer last year, and the franchise didn't precisely debunk the rumors ahead of the 2022 NFL season. But we must remember that it's not the same Brown we are talking about.

Since the beginning of the 2022 NFL season, Brown has been wilding out all over the country, getting into it with just about everyone you can think of, and he has probably still not gotten surgery on that ankle. The Ravens need a decent veteran wide receiver, yes, but they need competent characters in the dressing room, and right now, Brown doesn't tick the latter box.

3. Las Vegas Raiders

Simply put, why would you want to tempt Antonio Brown this way? How would a team that resides a stone's throw away from Ceaser's Palace sign Brown for a season of intense NFL action? Aside from the fact that the Raiders currently have top-notch wideouts, Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow, the team doesn't need the drama.

The Raiders already have their work cut out ahead of the 2023 NFL season. The team is looking for a starting quarterback after they released Derek Carr, with Aaron Rodgers mooted as a possible replacement. Just thinking of it, imagine a team with Aaron Rodgers and Antonio Brown on the offense; sparks will fly on and off the Gridiron.
