The 2024 fantasy football season is quickly approaching, so it's now time to start preparing for the draft. This is the most important event of every fantasy season because it creates the foundation of a roster. A poor draft can derail an entire season before it even gets started, so preparation is crucial.
Running backs have always been among the most desirable fantasy football players to target early on in drafts. Derrick Henry has been an early-round staple for years, and with his move to the Baltimore Ravens, he is expected to be a popular pick once again this year.
Building the best fantasy rosters is all about finding the best values at the right time and projecting which players will potentially have a breakout season. While Henry is considered to be a safe pick with a high floor, here are three running backs worth taking before him due to their massive upside and favorable situations ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

#1. Breece Hall
Despite playing in one of the worst overall offenses in the entire NFL last season, Breece Hall still found a way to turn in 1,585 scrimmage yards for the New York Jets. Making his accomplishments even more impressive is that he was coming off of a season-ending injury from the year before.
Another year back at full health suggests that Hall could take another step forward this year. He is also expected to receive more scoring opportunities, with Aaron Rodgers theoretically making a massive improvement to their offense as a whole. All of this suggests an RB1 ceiling for Hall in fantasy football this year.
#2. Bijan Robinson
The Atlanta Falcons' play-calling was a bit frustrating for some fantasy managers last year who felt as though Bijan Robinson should have been featured much more. They may get their wish this season as the franchise hired a new head coach and offensive coordinator.
Like Hall, Robinson will also get the luxury of a potentially massive upgrade at quarterback with Kirk Cousins. The Falcons suffered through some of the worst quarterback play in the NFL last year, so with a theoretically better offense and more touches, Robinson could be on his way to being a fantasy football superstar.
#3. Kyren Williams
While he spent a large portion of last season injured, Kyren Williams was spectacular for the Los Angeles Rams whenever he was healthy. He took over as their featured running back last year and ranked as the RB2 for the season based on fantasy points per game, trailing only Christian McCaffrey.
The Rams have one of the best young offenses in the entire NFL, and if Williams can stay healthier this year, he is one of the most intriguing running backs to targets in drafts. His average output last season demonstrated that he can be an elite performer, so he has as high of a ceiling as just about any other fantasy football running back.
