Week 1 of the 2024 fantasy football season has finally arrived. Most managers have completed their drafts as they prepare their rosters for the first week of the season. Before the year kicks off, they will first have an opportunity to make some trades. Here are five candidates to buy low on and five others to sell high on before the season begins.

#1 - Ezekiel Elliot

Ezekiel Elliot rejoined the Dallas Cowboys this year after one year away from the team. He has a mid-round ranking, according to his ADP, but his upside suggests he could significantly outperform his standing. He is expected to be the starting running back for one of the best offenses in the NFL, so it makes sense to invest in him now at potentially his cheapest value of the 2024 season.
#2 - Kyler Murray
Kyler Murray finished among the top 10 fantasy football quarterbacks in each of his first three seasons, including a career-high QB2 finish. His value has dropped after two consecutive years that were shortened by injuries, but he has already proved to be an elite option when he's healthy. He also has Marvin Harrison Jr. this year, so he could be in line for a major bounce-back season.
#3 - Ja'Marr Chase
Ja'Marr Chase is reportedly still seeking a massive contract extension from the Cincinnati Bengals. Some managers may be worried that this will impact his availability this year, but he has participated in their offseason program. He has the potential to finish as the overall WR1 in fantasy football this year, so his risk is worth buying at a relatively discounted price tag.
#4 - Joshua Palmer
Joshua Palmer will enter the 2024 fantasy football season as the veteran option in the Los Angeles Chargers' newly constructed offense. This could earn him additional targets from Justin Herbert, who doesn't have a true WR1 this season. If Palmer can emerge as the top option for the elite quarterback, he could be one of the biggest sleepers this year.
#5 - Khalil Shakir
Khalil Shakir is in a similar situation to Joshua Palmer as the veteran option in an offense with an elite quarterback and an undefined target hierarchy. While many managers are targeting Keon Coleman, it may be Shakir who emerges as the top option for Josh Allen. He flashed his upside with three weekly top-25 finishes in fantasy football last year, so he could be a 2024 sleeper.
Sell High Candidates
#1 - De'Von Achane
De'Von Achane has seen his value skyrocket this year and is currently ranked as the 21st overall player, according to his ADP. He demonstrated his massive upside in limited playing time last season, and while he is expected to be the Miami Dolphins' starter, a timeshare in the backfield is still possible. Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright may also be in the mix for significant touches.
#2 - DJ Moore
DJ Moore is coming off of a career-best WR6 finish in fantasy football last season. While he should still serve as the Chicago Bears' WR1 this year, he has much more competition for targets. The team added Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze and D'Andre Swift, so Moore could regress this year.
#3 - Nico Collins
Nico Collins is in a similar situation as DJ Moore, as he is also coming off of a career-best fantasy football season but will face a ton more competition for workload this year. The Houston Texans added Stefon Diggs and will also get Tank Dell back from injury, so Collins is unlikely to dominate the targets again.
#4 - DeVonta Smith
DeVonta Smith took a step backward in fantasy football last season, going from the WR10 to the WR20. With the Philadelphia Eagles making a bold move to acquire Saquon Barkley, Smith could see his workload decrease even further. Dallas Goedert is also scheduled to return from injury, so selling high on the young wide receiver now may be the best strategy.
#5 - David Njoku
David Njoku set career-highs in just about every receiving category last season on his way to a TE6 finish in fantasy football. The issue is that he performed far above his career averages, including 81 receptions after never exceeding 60 in any other season. Selling high makes sense, as regression is likely, especially since the addition of Jerry Jeudy could eat into his targets.
