Donald Trump and the NFL have a long and fractious relationship. While in office, the 45th President of the United States of America called for the public to boycott the league due to a number of players kneeling while the national anthem played.

It's widely believed that the controversy from the act effectively caused Colin Kaepernick his NFL career.

Ahead of Trump's bid for a second term as President, let's have a look at five players who have shown support for his campaign.

Five current and former NFL players who support Donald Trump

Here's a look at five current and former NFL stars who are supporting Donald Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election:

1. Antonio Brown

These days, Antonio Brown is more famous for his outspoken views than his legacy on the Gridiron. However, the one-time Super Bowl champion is one of the greatest wide receivers of his era, and he has the accolades to prove it.

Brown's honors include, but aren't limited to, seven Pro Bowl nods, four first-team All-Pro appearances, one second-team All-Pro selection, the 2018 receiving TDs title, and numerous Pittsburgh Steelers records.

In October 2024, Brown was spotted outside the Pittsburgh Steelers stadium, handing out Trump-inscribed yellow and black towels to fans before a game. It came just a night after he spoke at a Trump and Vance rally.

Brown has also been on record mocking Trump's opponent, the Democratic Party's Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz.

2. Nick Bosa

Nick Bosa is a perennial Pro Bowler and a key member of beaten Super Bowl LVIII finalists, the San Francisco 49ers. Bosa recently got tongues wagging as he interrupted a Brock Purdy post-game interview to show support for Donald Trump while rocking a "Make America Great Again" hat.

It happened after a close-fought Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys (ironically nicknamed America's Team).

This isn't the first time that Bosa has shown his admiration for Trump; during his time at Ohio State, he regularly tweeted positive views about the former President.

He did scrub his social media clean of any Trump rhetoric when he entered the league, especially since he was joining Colin Kaepernick's last team, the San Francisco 49ers.

3. Le’Veon Bell

For a period, Le'Veon Bell was the best running back in the National Football League. The former Pittsburgh Steelers star earned three Pro Bowl nods during his peak in black and yellow.

Bell recently backed Donald Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania alongside former teammate Antonio Brown. Bell later garnered some controversy on social media for a shirt he wore that contained harsh words about Kamala Harris.

4. Harrison Butker

Harrison Butker is a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs. Butker is the Chiefs' starting kicker.

The Georgia Tech schooled star announced his support for Donald Trump at a Josh Hawley event. Butker said:

"I am supporting the President, who is going to be the most pro-life President. It is a crucial topic for me. I want us to be fighting for the most vulnerable, fighting for the unborn. That is what we should prioritize."

Butker has long expressed his opinions about the pro-life stand, and he believes that the Republican candidate's political manifesto best captures this aim.

5. Lawrence Taylor

Lawrence Taylor, better known as LT, is a two-time Super Bowl winner and arguably the greatest defensive player of all time. Taylor is also a supporter of Trump.

The New York Giants legend attended a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, in May 2024. Donald Trump brought Taylor to the podium, and the 10-time Pro Bowler said:

"I just wanted to say I grew up a Democrat, and I have always been a Democrat until I met Mr. Trump. He won't have to worry about anybody in my family ever voting for a Democrat again."

According to Forbes, other NFL players (past or present) who have supported Trump are Ottis “O.J.” Anderson and Mike Wallace.
