5 key takeaways from Steelers-Cowboys Week 5 SNF showdown

The Sunday Night Football was messy, but the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-17 with a late touchdown to move to 3-2 in the NFC East.

Dak Prescott committed three turnovers, but was still able to lead his team in a game-winning drive to win their second straight game and put themselves back in the fight for the division. Here are five takeaways from this game:

#1 - Fields' inconsistency is still there

The Steelers quarterback once again couldn't keep a good rhythm throughout the contest, completing just over 50% of his passes (14/26) and not being his usual self in the running game, with just 27 yards in six carries. The offense just isn't going to explode as long as he's the starter.

#2 - Dak's turnovers will be a problem in bigger games

Prescott had three turnovers in key positions during the game and, although he led the team in a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, the Cowboys should've never been in this position to begin. They were able to move the ball with ease, but finishing drives was a problem. Against stronger offenses, the turnovers will be costly.

#3 - Running the ball is still impossible for Dallas

In a muddy field due to the storm that delayed the start of the game for over an hour, the Cowboys failed to impose themselves in the trenches. They had 31 carries, but just 109 yards (3.5 yards per carry on average) and no touchdowns. As we know, making Prescott win the game with his arm is always risky.

#4 - Jalen Tolbert is ready to shine

Brandin Cooks is nowhere near his prime level, CeeDee Lamb is not playing his best after missing many spring practices and Jalen Tolbert is picking up the slack for both of them. With seven catches, 87 yards and the game-winning touchdown, Tolbert is quickly making a name for himself as WR2.

#5 - T. J. Watt is a strong DPOY candidate

Surely this could go missing in a losing effort, but once again, Watt proved that there's no way you can list elite EDGE rushers in the NFL without including his name. He made Prescott uncomfortable all night, amassing three quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks. He's a strong DPOY candidate after five weeks.
