Russell Wilson has been one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the NFL over the last decade-plus. He spent 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks, helping them appear in the Super Bowl twice and winning a ring in one of them. He recently joined the Denver Broncos ahead of the 2022 NFL season to continue his career.
What some NFL fans may not know about Russell Wilson is that he had the opportunity to be a professional baseball player as well. He was an excellent infielder in high school and was recruited to play shortstop at North Carolina State University.
Wilson played football and baseball there before transferring to the University of Wisconsin to continue his college football career as a quarterback.
Prior to committing to a career in football, Wilson was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the 140th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He spent two years in the minor league system before eventually landing with the New York Yankees. They still currently own Russell Wilson's rights if he ever decides to play baseball again.
