5 NFL QBs who can stop Patrick Mahomes from establishing a new Chiefs dynasty ft. Joe Burrow

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has flipped the league upside down since being drafted in 2017. He has five straight AFC Championship appearances, two Super Bowl wins, two Super Bowl MVP's and two regular season MVP Awards.

Mahomes joins Joe Montana and Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks to win multiple regular-season and Super Bowl MVP awards. Mahomes needed only six years to win two MVP awards and two rings. Brady and Montana needed 11 and 12 years to do the same.

The Chiefs dynasty appears to be upon us, however, the following five quarterbacks could bring them down:

#1. Joe Burrow, Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Burrow has already defeated Patrick Mahomes in one AFC title game, but the loss this year stings. It might be a turn in the rivalry brewing between these players. The Jamarr Chase and Burrow connection doesn't seem to be going anywhere, which is good for non-Chiefs fans.

All Burrow has done in the last four years is win and throw a ton of touchdowns. If the defense can help him out, you give Burrow the ball and he can compete with the best of the quarterbacks.

#2. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

Some might argue that this year's MVP trophy was handed to the wrong player and the wrong quarterback. Jalen Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl and for 30 minutes was the best player on the field.

This might have been a preview of the top QB's of the future facing off. Had Hurts and Philly gotten another ring this year, the talk of a dynasty might have been the other way around.

#3. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen is undoubtedly one of the top five QB's in the NFL. But he has shown signs of regression and suffered a disappointing loss in the Divisonal round to Joe Burrow and the Bengals.

Given the right circumstances, a home playoff game for the Bills vs. the Chiefs could be an easy win for Buffalo. But Allen has to loosen up and develop. If he does, he could well derail all the talk of Patrick Mahomes chasing Tom Brady's Super Bowl ring totals.

#4. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence had a slow rookie year and started his second year the same. However, he really turned things around to reach the Divisional round of the playoffs.

With Doug Peterson coaching him instead of Urban Meyer for future years, Jags fans are expecting more and more from the youngster. If Lawrence plays to his potential and has the right pieces around him, he could possibly surpass Mahomes as the most talented QB. But winning Super Bowls is hard to come by, so that debate can be saved for future years.

#5. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Similar to Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert's upside can top the rest of the QBs in the league. But as we've seen, coaching and having more pieces for a team besides the quarterback plays a vital role in winning playoff games. A heartbreaking loss to the Jags in this year's Wild Card round will hopefully give Herbert some more motivation.

Watching the Chiefs win the Super Bowl was hard for their AFC West rivals and the Los Angeles Chargers look like their bggest threat in the division. It's entirely possible that the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos will step up next season, in which case Mahomes will have his work cut out for him.
