#3 - Denver Broncos

Another team that will likely be looking for a new quarterback in the 2022 NFL season is the Denver Broncos. They have a solid defense that has been ranked amongst the top 5 all season for points allowed to the opposition. On offense they have skill position players such as Courtland Sutton and Javonte Williams who can make explosive plays.

The only area of concern seems to be the quarterback position. Teddy Bridgewater as of right now, is the starting quarterback, but he has not been able to get the offense going this season. His backup is Drew Lock, and even after a few middling performances by Bridgewater, the Broncos have not opted to make Lock their starting quarterback. Emphasizing the fact that he is simply not held in high enough regard within the organization to lead the team. They will need a new quarterback to get the team going in the 2022 NFL season and given how ready the offense and defense look right now, they might go the free agency route and pick up a veteran quarterback like Aaron Rodgers.

#4 - Houston Texans

One could pick pretty much any position on the Houston Texans roster and the chances are they are going to see a new starter for the 2022 NFL season. But what remains a must-have for the 2022 NFL season is a new starting quarterback.

Deshaun Watson is done with the Houston Texans after he requested a trade and is now under investigation for credible sexual misconduct. Rookie Davis Mills has seven touchdowns and eight interceptions and it does not seem likely that he will get the starting job. Meanwhile, Tyrod Taylor has five touchdowns and five interceptions, numbers that don't exactly scream QB1.

The Texans are in desperate need of a new starting quarterback going into the 2022 NFL season. With holes all across their roster, they will likely not be able to lure a veteran to town, so they will have to concentrate their efforts on the NFL draft.

#5 - San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers is a story foretold. They traded up in the 2021 NFL draft to grab Trey Lance because they believed he was the future of the franchise. Current starter Jimmy Garoppolo looks more like a placeholder at this point.

While Jimmy Garoppolo gives Trey Lance time to learn in the 2021 NFL season, the transition will be complete come the 2022 NFL season. Meaning, Trey Lance will invariably move up and usurp the 49ers' starting quarterback position. While no one knows where Jimmy Garoppolo will end up in the 2022 NFL season, there is a good chance he will go to some of the teams looking for veteran free agents.
