We are already nearly halfway through the 2022 NFL season. Week 7 is almost in the books, and plenty of the preseason favorites have cemented themselves at the top of the tree, including the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The quarterback plays of Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are primarily responsible for this, as they've led their teams to five and four wins, respectively.
Despite this, some NFL superstar quarterbacks have so far failed to live up to expectations in 2022 and may miss the playoffs altogether.
#5 - Kyler Murray

Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals currently sit bottom of the NFC West at 3-4 after seven weeks and seem a long way off the NFL playoffs.
Through those seven weeks, Murray has passed for seven touchdowns against four interceptions in wins against the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers, and the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the Cardinals have already lost to division rivals, the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks, which doesn't bode well for Arizona's playoff bid. Murray has looked sub-par thus far, but the team recently got DeAndre Hopkins back from suspension, so there's a possibility the two could still help the Cardinals into the postseason.
#4 - Matthew Stafford
Like Arizona, the Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford are in real danger of missing the NFL playoffs, despite winning the Super Bowl a year ago.
The Rams currently sit 3-4 and are second in the division behind the Seahawks. Stafford has passed for just six touchdowns against eight picks. His eight interceptions are only one behind those of league leader Matt Ryan. If Stafford continues to be careless with the ball, the Rams will struggle to make the postseason.
#3 - Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are in serious trouble in the 2022 NFL season.
Despite Rodgers passing for 11 touchdowns against just three picks, the Packers have won just three games all year and sit 3-4. The setbacks they faced included surprise losses to the New York Giants, the New York Jets, and the Washington Commanders.
Rodgers usually comes up clutch in games but is missing Davante Adams, his number-one target for years.
Green Bay is also facing stiff competition from division rivals Minnesota Vikings, who currently have a comfortable lead in the division, sitting 5-1.
#2 - Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson has failed to deliver success with the Denver Broncos after his blockbuster trade from the Seattle Seahawks during the 2022 NFL offseason.
Through seven weeks, the Broncos sit 2-5 and already appear to be out of the playoff picture, as the Chiefs have a mammoth lead at the top of the AFC West.
Wilson and new head coach Nathaniel Hackett have failed to mesh as Wilson has passed for just five touchdowns against three interceptions, and the Broncos offense has been unable to click so far.
Hackett has also been responsible for some questionable playcalling, and Denver are almost certainly out of the playoff picture this season.
#1 - Tom Brady
Despite Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sitting top of the NFC South, Brady has looked way off his usual best so far this year.
The Buccaneers and the Falcons sit 3-4 at the top of the division. Tampa Bay suffered an ugly 21-3 loss to the Carolina Panthers, who only had one win before the game.
Brady may have an 8-1 touchdown-interception ratio, but his play so far this year has failed to live up to his usual standards.
This year, Brady has lost to the Carolina Panthers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Kansas City Chiefs. One could easily make the case that he could have won at least two of these games if he had been in peak form.
