Aaron Jones is an American Football running back for the Minnesota Vikings. The 5 ft 9 in back was taken in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers with their 182nd pick. The Georgia native has been to the pro bowl once (2020) in his seven seasons. He was an honorable mention on the top 10 running backs survey done by ESPN in July 2024 where opinions of various executives, scouts and coaches were asked. Jones attended Burges High School in El Paso, Texas. After completing his secondary education, he committed to playing for his hometown college in University of Texas at El Paso, where he played from 2013 to 2016. He went on to play in 35 games for the Miners during his 4-year tenure, where he totaled more than 4,100 rushing yards and 646 receiving yards while getting into the endzone 40 times.
Since entering the league in 2017, he has not played less than 11 games in any season as of 2024. The 2019 season was where he crossed the 1,000-yard mark (rushing) for the first time in his career (1,084). His best season came in 2022, when he put up career-best numbers across the board. Former Packer rushed for 1,121 yards on the ground while also hauling in 59 receptions (both career-best) that year. By the end of 2023 season, Jones had managed to accumulate more than 5,900 yards on the ground, along with 2,076 yards through the air. Aaron Jones signed a 1 year $7 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings in March 2024 after getting released by the Green Bay Packers in the 2024 offseason.
