Aaron Jones is on a brand-new team after an injury-riddled season last year. Once a fantasy darling, managers may be hoping he can return to form and stay healthy. The change of scenery, especially since it involves leaving the Green Bay Packers for their heated rival Minnesota Vikings, might do him good.
Should you draft Vikings RB Aaron Jones in 2024?
Aaron Jones should be on your radar for 2024. Not only does he have a chip on his shoulder on a new team, but he also has the benefit of having a questionable QB situation. He could be the focal point of the offense.

JJ McCarthy will not play this year, so Sam Darnold will be the starter. Kevin O'Connell can make anyone work well at QB, but with a weapon like Jones in the backfield, he might not have to.
Jones is the starter on a team that has QB issues, and he is someone you'll want to have on your fantasy roster. Plus, while Ty Chandler had some good games last year, he's not threatening Jones for carries.
Aaron Jones 2024 fantasy outlook, ADP and 2023 stats
Jones has a positive outlook this season. When he was on the field last year, he was good. He just wasn't out often, but assuming he's past the hamstring issues and other ailments that have plagued him, there's no reason to suggest he's slowing down.
Jones has the motivation to play well after being cut and signing a small contract with a division rival. That can matter, especially for a running back who could get a few extra yards here and there solely based on his aggression when running the ball.
In 2023, he finished as the 119th overall player. He was the victim of injury, as he only played 11 games out of a possible 17. He rushed for 652 yards at a 4.56 yard-per-carry clip and added three total touchdowns (one through the air).
Currently, his ADP is 56 overall. This will change a little as more fantasy drafts conclude in the coming weeks, but he's being picked in the sixth round presently. He is being selected as the 19th running back off the board.
That's in a similar spot to Kenneth Walker. If it comes down to the choice between these two, our fantasy analyzer believes that Jones is the slightly better pick. Walker is being drafted as the 16th running back, so you might be able to get some value in this range.
Is Aaron Jones a good pick in fantasy football this year?
Jones is a good pick in fantasy football this year. It was not that long ago that he had more touchdowns in a season than Christian McCaffrey. TDs aren't everything, and of course, CMC is a better pick this year, but Jones is a talented back with a good opportunity.
Though they are different players, while Dalvin Cook was in his prime, he was a great fantasy option with the Vikings. Jones could be used similarly and will at least have the same opportunity Cook did. That could bode well for a good year in fantasy football.
Where should you draft Aaron Jones this year?
Ultimately, the place you draft any player in fantasy football determines whether or not they're a good pick most of the time. Chuba Hubbard might be a good pick later in the draft, but he'd be a bad pick in the fourth round, for example.
That is true of Aaron Jones, who is being selected in the sixth round right now. That is a pretty good range for him. As shown above, he's even a potential better pick than some players drafted ahead of him. That's why you should leave him in this round and range.
It may be tempting to pick Jones earlier since he has more value than Walker and others, but overdrafting him only means he loses that value. Keep an eye on pick 65, and anything there or lower is a perfect spot to take the Vikings RB.
