Aaron LaRae Jones is an American football running back for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL. The Green Bay Packers drafted Jones with the 182nd pick in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Jones started four games, appearing in 12 in his rookie year for the Packers. The following 2018 NFL season, Jones started eight games and garnered attention from the league by leading in average rushing yards (5.5) in the NFL. Jones became a starter in 2019, as he started all 16 games of the regular season. He also led the league with 16 rushing touchdowns in 2019. After seven seasons and 97 appearances for the Packers, Jones signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. He has made one Pro-Bowl appearance in 2020, as of October 2024.

Growing up in Texas, Jones attended the Burges High School in El Paso. According to UTEP Miners' official website, he earned 1-4A Offensive MVP and the El Paso Times All-City MVP award his senior season. Jones was also appointed to The Old Coach 2013 Class 4A All-State Tea. He recorded more than 1,800 yards rushing and accounted for 30 touchdowns in 2012. Jones committed to the University of Texas at El Paso playing for the Miners in 2013. He completed his collegiate career being UTEP’s all-time rushing leader (4,114 yards) and ranked seventh on the Conference USA All-time rushing list in 2016.

Jones sprained his right and left MCL in November and December 2017 respectively. In 2018, he sustained a hamstring sprain in July, followed by re-injuring his right MCL in December and a calf strain in October 2020. In 2021, he sustained a rib sprain in January, followed by re-aggravating his hamstring sprain and right MCL in August and November respectively. Jones sustained a knee injury in January 2022, followed by an ankle sprain in November 2022. In 2023, he sustained a hamstring pull and sprained MCL in September and November respectively. As of October 2024, he suffered a hip injury against the Jets.

In Week 10 of the 2017 NFL season, Jones sprained his right MCL against the Chicago Bears on November 12, 2017. He had to sit out for the next two games returning in Week 13.

On December 23, 2017, Jones sustained a sprained left MCL in the Week 16 game and missed out on the final game of the season.

Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 (2018)

On July 28, 2018, Jones suffered a hamstring pull during the off-season practice, which led him to miss two weeks of training camp.

Knee MCL Sprain Grade 2 (2018)

Jones sprained his right MCL during the Week 15 game on December 16, 2018. He missed the final two games of the 2018 NFL season following the injury.

Leg Calf Strain (2020)

On October 22, 2020, Jones sustained a calf strain during practice before the Week 7 game. He missed two games following the injury.

Chest Rib Sprain (2021)

On January 24, 2021, Jones sutained a chest injury during the NFC Championship game against the Buccaneers, which forced him to leave the game.

Jones sustained a strained hamstring on August 9, 2021. He missed the training camp practice due to the injury.

Jones suffered an ankle sprain on 6th November, 2022. However, the X-rays results were negative and he was seen in a walking boot, according to DraftSharks.

On September 10, 2023, Jones suffered a hamstring injury during the Week 1 game against the Bears.
