Running back Aaron Jones has been a great addition for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024. The former Green Bay Packers running back is having a great season, averaging 4.4 yards per carry entering Week 12. Against an old rival, the Chicago Bears, he once again dominated running the ball.

Jones put in some excellent numbers when he broke out a great 41-yard run to catapult the Vikings' offense in the first half. With Sam Darnold back to his best, throwing two touchdowns in the first half, the running back was able to average some excellent 8.6 yards.

Although he settled down a bit in the second half, he was still an instrumental part of Minnesota's victory, which kept them in the fight for the NFC North. The Detroit Lions also earned a win on Sunday, so Kevin O'Connell's team is still one game behind.

His exhibition was strongly helped by the long run he broke in the first half. However, when a running back averages 4.8 yards per carry, it's impossible not to be happy with his numbers.

However, they don't tell the whole story. After he broke the 41-yard run, the Vikings had a 1st and goal, but he fumbled the ball on the goal line and it was recovered by Jonathan Owens from the Chicago Bears. The Vikings ended the drive with no points on the board and a huge sense of disappointment.

This was only his second game with over 100 rushing yards in 2024. The previous instance happened back in Week 3 when he had 102 against the Houston Texans. The Vikings won that game 34-7.

With Cam Akers amassing just 19 rushing yards on Sunday, it's clear who's the lead back for Minnesota. Jones' performance was very good, and he's one of the key pieces for O'Connell's offense.
