"Green Bay made this animal" - Chris Simms blames the Packers for Aaron Rodgers' arrogance

New Orleans Saints v Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is a quarterback who can either give off vibes of confidence or of arrogance. For NBC Sports NFL analyst Chris Simms, it's the vibe of arrogance.

On a recent episode of Pro Football Talk, Simms asserted that the arrogance the Green Bay Packers quarterback possesses is the fault of the team itself.

"I hear you there. I can't stick up. Now. It can't stick up for him, I can't, you know, and again, I always say Green Bay made this animal, this is what they do there. They [Green Bay] make their quarterbacks kings and they took the crown off Favre and then went to Aaron Rodgers and you're the king. So that's why it's a little different there."

Simms also mentioned comments made by Packers wide receiver Sammy Watkins.

"But like, I wonder how Sammy Watkins feels about that. Aaron Rodgers is on another level than Patrick Mahomes right now. I wonder how he feels about that because it sure doesn't look like that. To me, it looks like some other guy in red wearing one and five is on another level.
"I just don't know all those crazy things that are going in my head right now because the Packers are kind of annoying when they're talking about that."

In September, Watkins was asked in an interview with Green Bay's official channel about something he supposedly said comparing Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

Watkins had allegedly said:

“Pat is incredibly good, but A-Rod is on a whole other level.”

The wide receiver did not deny issuing the quote, and he elaborated on what he meant by it, regarding the two quarterbacks.

“He’s amazing. How he controls the ball. How he puts everyone in place. I’ve been with a lot of quarterbacks, and I’ve never seen them carry themselves like Aaron Rodgers.”

Chris Simms not the first person to discuss Aaron Rodgers and his arrogance

Simms, who played quarterback in the NFL for five seasons, wasn't the first former player to call out Rodgers' arrogance. Former NFL linebacker Lamarr Houston expressed his thoughts on the four-time NFL MVP back in 2016 on ESPN as a player for the Chicago Bears.

"He's a little arrogant for me. He's a little too arrogant. He's a cheesehead. I'm a Bear. He's a cheesehead. But I have a lot of respect for his game; I will say that. He's a great quarterback. As a player, I have a lot of respect for him...but the whole championship belt thing kind of gets on my nerves."

Whether he's arrogant or confident, the 38-year-old is one of the more polarizing players in the NFL.
